1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

'FUTURE OF ENTIRE INTERNET AT STAKE'

"Fair Use for Information & Discussion Purposes"

Three days before the Federal Communications Commission is scheduled to vote on the most significant Internet regulations in history, two commissioners are asking Chairman Tom Wheeler to delay the vote and release his proposal to the public.

“We respectfully request that FCC leadership immediately release the 332-page Internet regulation plan publicly and allow the American people a reasonable period of not less than 30 days to carefully study it,” Republican Commissioners Ajit Pai and Michael O’Rielly said in a statement Monday. “Then, after the commission reviews the specific input it receives from the American public and makes any modifications to the plan as appropriate, we could proceed to a final vote.” (RELATED: FCC/FEC Commissioners: Net Neutrality Regs Threaten Political Free Speech Online)

The commission is set to vote on Wheeler’s aggressive proposal — which will regulate Internet service providers as public utilities and set new standards for speed and pricing — on Thursday, when it is expected to pass by a partisan vote of 3-2. FCC/FTC Commissioners: ‘The Internet Isn’t Broken, And We Don’t Need The President’s Plan To ‘Fix’ It’

Federal Communications Commissioner Ajit Pai gained an ally in the fight against his agency’s net neutrality proposal in a Wednesday op-ed, in which Pai and Federal Trade Commissioner Joshua Wright argue the plan will take FTC protection away from Internet consumers.

Republican FCC Commissioner Slams ‘Obama’s 332-Page Plan To Regulate The Internet’

Republican FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai on Friday raised the first of many criticisms to come about FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler’s aggressive net neutrality plan distributed to commissioners Thursday, which Pai described as “President Obama’s 332-page plan to regulate the Internet.”

In a statement released Friday, Pai lamented the fact that the 332-page plan, which he tweeted a picture of himself holding next to a picture of Obama, won’t be released to the public until after the commission votes on its implementation later this month.

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler Finally Reveals His Net Neutrality Plan

After months of speculation, heated debate and protest from Internet consumers, providers and regulators from President Obama on down, FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler on Wednesday finally announced his intentions to reclassify and regulate the Internet as a public utility to ensure net neutrality.

Wheeler outlined his intentions to reclassify and regulate broadband, wired and wireless Internet service providers (ISPs) as public utilities under a modernized interpretation of the 1996 Telecommunications Act in a Wednesday Wired op-ed. Ever since being elected president, Obama’s style has been one of neutralizing and neutering

Neutralize Obama’s Hijacking of the Internet

Barack Obama is knocking all little people in civil society off the Information Highway—but leaving the coast clear for all Islamic terrorists.

Average citizens who depend on the Internet to get their message out will be ‘regulated’ off beginning three days from now, but ISIS which recruits new members from off the ‘Net will continue to send its threats and gruesome YouTubes online.

In fact, when all regulations from Obama’s 332-page book of ‘Net Neutrality’ are in place, only governments and terrorists will be free to blog and post.

Obama calls his takeover of the public’s most reliable means of communication, “Net Neutrality”. But in reality, it’s an overnight Hijacking of the common man’s Information Highway.

“Quickly and quietly”, high-handed Barack Obama and the Democrats are working on hijacking the Information Highway. (Canada Free Press, Feb. 12, 2015)

“Big Government takeover of the Internet will become a fait accompli by February 26, 2015, with a Federal Communications Commission (FCC ) vote. By the time the public becomes aware of it, the Internet will already belong to Obama.

“Suffering in silence with no means of communication to others is exactly what Obama wants on his mission for his ever-expanding ‘Fundamental Transformation of the Free West’.”

In fact, after Feb. 26, stories such as this one will never be able to find their way to you.

“This is a massive power grab and government at its worst,” FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai told talk show host Mark Levin last week.

FCC members like Pai have been ordered to stay mum on the 332-page Obama plan that changes forever the average Joe’s access to the Worldwide Net.

“If I get in trouble, so be it,” Pai told Levin.

“Community organizers running governments always hide their dirty tricks behind innocuous sounding names. ObamaCare was first the Affordable Health Care Act. Hijacking the Information Highway sounds so much less lethal when it’s introduced to the masses as ‘Net Neutrality’. (CFP)

“The Federal Elections Commission (FEC) getting to regulate every word by popular major news outlets like Drudge is only one side of the government grab.

“Not everybody who tweets, blogs or shares their views on social media is a potential enemy of the state. Millions use the ‘Net to keep in touch with loved ones stationed at lonely military posts; to stay up to date with children living on college campuses away from home and for keeping distant grandparents in the family loop.

“Obama’s takeover of the Internet will keep families from reaching out online to loved ones by making internet access unaffordable to them.

Pai warns, “First, the claim that President Obama’s plan to regulate the Internet does not include rate regulation is flat-out false.”

You never did get to keep the doctor you liked, or the health care insurance you chose.

You can apply the same outcome for your internet server.

Ever since being elected president, Obama’s style has been one of neutralizing and neutering.

‘Neutralizing’ is the polite description Obama counts on the mainstream media to get across to the public at large on his patent refusal to identify Islamic terrorism for what it is.

‘Neutralize’ is what Marxist Obama has tried to do to all resisters to his destructive policies.

‘Neutralization’ is the ultimate state he intends for all Christians, TEA Party members, constitution lovers, second amendment advocates after they’ve been thoroughly smeared as bible thumpers, domestic terrorists, bigots and racists by his friends in the mainstream media.

‘Neutering’ is what Obama is now trying to do to legions of civilians who depend on the Internet as their main means of communication. This kind of neutering, in effect, ‘neuters’ the typing fingers of all Internet users.

Forget NSA, the FBI the CIA, and all warnings sent by Edward Snowden. They’ve got nothing on how Net Neutrality will silence you

Some day in the near future when you type in the words “Islamic terrorists” in an Internet post, you will be knocked off the Net and find it all but impossible to climb back on again.Forget NSA, the FBI the CIA, and all warnings sent by Edward Snowden. They’ve got nothing on how Net Neutrality will silence you.

Inundate your senators, congressmen and representatives with messages demanding to keep Internet access free to the masses.

Out-twitter and out-Facebook ISIS. The public at large, who outnumber the terrorists, should find this an easy mission.

Re: 'FUTURE OF ENTIRE INTERNET AT STAKE'

We're going to have to make new changes, so that you and I are not taken off the internet permanently.

Please read: the two threads I posted today...about the take over of the Internet by Obama.

If you find yourself all of a sudden off line, and are not able to get on line once again, it may not be your server, your computer, or even a virus, it will be Big Gov.

Obama, making sure that the harmless, little person you and I are removed, and the terrorist continue to make their youtube videos etc.

This was pushed through with little if any, information bringing it to the attention of the general public.

I ADVISE EVERYONE HERE, PLEASE, WATCH WHAT YOU POST FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS, AND LET US KNOW IF ANYONE HEARS ANYTHING MORE, ABOUT THIS SITUATION.

GOD HELP US, AND GET US OUT OF HERE TODAY, I PRAY...THE DEVIL ROAMS THE EARTH AND SEEKS WHO HE SHOULD KILL AND DESTROY. MAY GOD'S WARRIOR ANGELS SURROUND YOUR HOMES, FAMILIES, SCHOOLS, AND CHURCHES, AND MAY JESUS REIGN AND REMAIN IN YOUR HEART NOW AND FOREVERMORE.

PLEASE GIVE US SOME FEEDBACK, ON WHAT PRECAUTION WE CAN TAKE SO THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO STAY ONLINE...FOR A BIT LONGER IF POSSIBLE.

MARANATHA!

Re: 'FUTURE OF ENTIRE INTERNET AT STAKE'

There are 2 things that we must do for the next few days. First, we must contact our U.S. representatives and senators about this issue. It's too late now to send them snail-mails, so we will have to email them and/or call them, and ask them to stop this.

Second, we must pray. The Restrainer hasn't left this planet yet; the Holy Spirit is still restraining evil. We must pray that He will restrain this, by thwarting Obama's wicked plot against the Internet.

One more thing. We need to get the word out, and fast. I suggest that every member who has a Facebook page post this information on your page, and that you all email all of your Christian friends, in particular. I have already posted the link on my Facebook page.

Kathy, getting the word out as fast as we can, is important too, so that everyone is informed and aware on what has taken place right under our noses, in secret. Place it on your facebook accounts, tweet, email, call, do everything possible, in your power.
Pray, and keep the faith, God will see us through it all. Do something, better than nothing, it's important to all of us. We're in the last moments here on earth now,
and this is no time to quit; it's time to do all you are able too, for God's Honor and glory, which belong to Him alone.

Thanks for posting this on face book Kathy, God Bless!

OVERNIGHT TECH: GOP looks to make final net neutrality arguments

By Julian Hattem and Mario Trujillo - 02/24/15 07:01 PM EST
THE LEDE: Congressional Republicans are gearing up for a final show of criticism before the Federal Communications Commission votes to institute tough net neutrality rules on Thursday.

Two separate House panels will hold hearings on the new rules Wednesday, which will likely serve as forums for tongue-lashing of the FCC's leadership. The agency's action to reclassify broadband as a "telecommunications" service "injects a great deal of uncertainty into the future of the Internet," majority staffers on the Energy and Commerce subcommittee on Technology wrote in a memo ahead of the morning hearing. The session is billed as an opportunity to examine the "uncertain future of the Internet" due to the regulations.

Lawmakers in the House Oversight Committee will aim their fire at concerns about undue coordination between the FCC and the White House. That session follows an effort by Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) to get hold of unredacted emails sent between the agency and the president's office and heightened scrutiny into pressure the administration may have applied.
Without representatives from the FCC, however, the arguments will likely be somewhat one-sided. Chairman Tom Wheeler declined to testify before the Oversight Committee earlier this week, saying that he would be glad to appear but needed more notice. The panel had still not announced witnesses as of Tuesday evening.

The Commerce subcommittee will hear from four outside witnesses, only one of whom -- Public Knowledge head Gene Kimmelman -- supports the looming FCC rules. Former Rep. Rick Boucher (D-Va.), industry analyst and Georgetown professor Larry Downes and Information Technology and Innovation Foundation founder Robert Atkinson will all offer warnings against the FCC imposing Title II rules on broadband networks

Re: 'FUTURE OF ENTIRE INTERNET AT STAKE'

"Fair Use for Information & Educational Purposes"

Behind the 332 pages is the proposal by President Barack Obama to treat the internet like a utility, which would unconstitutionally seize federal power to regulate the Internet like a public utility

FCC: You Won’t Know What’s In Net Neutrality Until We Force It Upon You

The power grab is on, and the Obama Executive Branch will keep it all under wraps until it is too late for you to protest against it. Such has been the tendency of the Obama White House for six years, but now the brazen tyranny is being pranced in front of us as if the hard left minions of President Obama are daring us to make a peep about it.

Republican FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai has revealed in various media interviews that the regulations against Americans through Net Neutrality are provided in a 332 page internet regulation proposal that he has been disallowed to make available to the public. Pai says the provisions in the regulations being proposed are a “monumental shift toward government control of how the internet works.” According to Pai, the proposed regulations “micromanages virtually every aspect of how the internet operates (through the internet conduct rule), it opens the door in billions of dollars of new taxes (through fees based on the reclassification of the internet as a utility) on broadband that consumers are going to have to pay, it will lead to slower broadband speeds, it opens the door to trial lawyers filing class actions across the country, litigation isn’t usually the best way to ensure innovation, and there are a whole host of harms that are going to happen.”

Tom Wheeler, the Democrat that is the FCC chairman, has not only refused to allow the public to see the 332 pages of proposed regulations, but has now even refused to testify before Congress, claiming the secrecy is necessary because “the future of the Internet is at stake.” The refusal to go before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday comes on the eve of the FCC’s vote on new Internet regulations pertaining to net neutrality that are planned on Thursday.

A Government Controlled Internet

(LAST PARAGRAPH BELOW)

Nothing is wrong with the internet, so it needs no fixing. The Obama administration, however, can't stand all of the free speech going on that dares to stand in opposition to his policies, so he is taking steps to put a stop to it. He does not want the internet to be the wild west anymore. He does not approve of its free, open and thriving platform for civic and political engagement, economic growth, educational opportunity, entertainment and much more. Through government, he is determined to put a stop to all of that freedom.

That kind of freedom just cannot be tolerated.

And with your freedoms will also go protections against government tyranny.

Re: 'FUTURE OF ENTIRE INTERNET AT STAKE'

The Imminency of Yet Another Government Power Grab

WRITTEN BY: ANDY WOODS FEBRUARY 25, 2015

And This Time the Internet is at Stake

Our world is about to change for the worse. Tomorrow the three Democrat majority on the FCC will most likely vote to allow the government to regulate the Internet in the same way it regulates broadcast television and telecoms. Such a move will grant to the government the power to regulate the Internet as a public utility. As this happens, the free exchange of ideas that we find on the Internet will eventually become a thing of the past. Our internet accessibility will ultimately resemble more like what is experienced in Venezuela, Cuba, China, or Korea rather than what we have enjoyed since the Internet’s inception. Beyond this, a hidden tax will now be levied via our Broadband provider. This Federal administrative fee will be much like what we see in our monthly phone bill.

This latest government power grab is all part of the fundamental transformation of America that Obama promised when he first ran for President back in 2008. Remember, they took over the healthcare industry in Obama’s first term. In so doing they confiscated one sixth of the American economy through Obamacare. We later discovered that this was something that they felt we needed since we apparently weren’t sophisticated enough to understand the benefits of universal and government-run healthcare. According to Gruber, Obamacare’s architect, the stealth government takeover of the healthcare industry was necessary due to “the stupidity of the American voter.” Notice how these people look at us, with absolute derision and condescension. They also promised that “if you like your doctor you can keep it.” That promise has turned out to be completely and totally fallacious, a lie in other words. Most recently they passed executive amnesty. They did so with no statutory authority.

Now the Internet is within their sights. Sadly, this is all once again being done with virtually no public scrutiny, notification, or national debate. The massive regulations that are about to be imposed by the FCC upon the unsuspecting American people apparently will not be released until after tomorrow’s vote. Thus, this will be yet another case of “we have to pass the legislation before we can find out what is in it.” By the time most Americans wake up and smell the coffee it will likely be too late. Our only hope will be to try to stop the FCC in court. Personally, I don’t have much hope that our judges will stop the FCC given the Supreme Court’s recent decision to uphold Obamacare despite its blatant lack of Constitutionality. While I remain thankful for a courageous lower court Federal District Court judge who recently had the intestinal fortitude to place an injunction on executive and amnesty, it remains unclear how the higher courts will decide or how long this injunction will last.

What we have seen over the last six years is one government power grab after another by our Federal government in general and the executive branch in particular. Given fallen human nature and the government’s seemingly unquenchable lust for power, I really don’t see things changing for the better in the immediate future. Our only real hope is prayer, an authentic spiritual awakening, an alteration in the thinking of the believer whereby they again see themselves as stewards over our republic, and a return to the concept of limited government that is so clearly outlined in our Constitution. Until these things happen, may God have mercy on us.

Re: 'FUTURE OF ENTIRE INTERNET AT STAKE'

FCC Approves Sweeping Internet Regulation Plan, Obama Accused of Meddling FCC

February 26,2015

(FOX NEWS)—The Federal Communications Commission on Thursday adopted sweeping new regulations sought by President Obama for how Americans use and do business on the Internet, in a party-line vote that is sure to be challenged by the broadband industry.

The commission, following a contentious meeting, voted 3-2 to adopt its so-called net neutrality plan—a proposal that remained secret in the run-up to the final vote.

On its surface, the plan is aimed at barring service providers from creating paid "fast lanes" on the Internet, which consumer advocates and Internet companies worry would edge out cash-strapped startups and smaller Internet-based businesses. Chairman Tom Wheeler said it would ensure an "open, unfettered network."

But the rules, more broadly, would put the Internet in the same regulatory camp as the telephone by classifying it like a public utility, meaning providers like Comcast or Verizon would have to act in the "public interest" when providing a mobile connection to your home or phone.

Republican Commissioner Ajit Pai, who delivered some of the most scathing criticism of the plan Thursday, warned the policy represents a "monumental shift" to "government control of the Internet."

Further, he accused the FCC of bending to the will of Obama, who last fall came out in favor of such a sweeping regulatory plan.

Pai said the FCC was reversing course from past positions for one reason: "President Obama told us to do so."

He warned of a litany of negative consequences, intended or not, from the net neutrality plan. He said it allows rate regulation—and, ultimately, rates will go up and broadband service will slow.

Pai said that while the plan defers a decision on applying a service fee to Internet bills—much like is applied to phone bills—that surely will change.

"The order explicitly opens the door to billions of dollars in new taxes," he said. "Read my lips: More new taxes are coming. It's just a matter of when."

Further, he pointed to slower Internet speeds in Europe, which largely treats the Internet as a public utility, in warning that the additional regulation will lead to less investment and slower speeds in the U.S. as well.

"The Internet is not broken. There is no problem for the government to solve," Pai said.

Fellow Republican member Michael O'Rielly called the plan a "monumental and unlawful power grab."

Republican lawmakers, as well, blasted the proposal as an antiquated solution that would hurt, not help, Internet innovation.

"The Obama Administration needs to get beyond its 1930s rotary-telephone mindset and embrace the future," Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said in a statement.

While the broadband industry is expected to sue, Republicans in Congress said they will try to pass legislation scrapping the rules, although it's unlikely that such a bill would be signed into law by Obama....

NRB keeping eye on Feds that want to keep eye on us Bill Bumpas (OneNewsNow.com) Wednesday, February 25, 2015

A group of religious broadcasters is raising First Amendment concerns as a pair of powerful government agencies consider increasing their control of the Internet.

Both the Federal Communications Commission and Federal Election Commission are drawing attention to their secretive plans for Internet regulations.

Aaron Mercer, vice president of government relations for the National Religious Broadcasters, says his organization has free speech concerns.

There's definitely a potential for a chill on free speech for those who don't want to get caught in the maze of federal regulations," he observes. "And that's a real concern, I think, for a lot of folks and certainly for us."

Meanwhile, a commissoner for the FCC and another for the FEC are warning the public about the plans of both federal agencies, naming freedom of speech and Internet speed as two likely victims. Both are Republican members.

On the matter of regulating speech, Ajit Pai and Lee Goodwarn warn in a column on the Politico website:

Without government regulation, political speech and civic engagement have flourished on the Internet, and ordinary citizens have had the same freedom and ability to disseminate their political opinions to a wide public audience as large media corporations.

7 Reasons Net Neutrality Is a Threat to Your Freedom

The FCC's Democrat majority voted on Thursday to fix something that ain't broken by approving new regulations for the Internet. Republicans are dissenting, darkly suggesting that the new rules in government hands are a threat.

The commission's chairman, Tom Wheeler, said the new rules will ensure net neutrality by barring Internet service providers like Comcast from charging companies like Netflix for priority data transmission. Considering that ISPs don't do this, and currently treat all data transmission equally, Rep. Darrell Issa, R-California, accused the FCC of trying to "fix something that is far from broken."

Here are 7 reasons why the FCC's new net neutrality rules could be a threat to your freedom.

1. The FCC's new rules are a heavy-handed government takeover of the Internet.

Under the new rules, broadband Internet is classified as a public utility for the first time ever. This gives the government wide control of private companies like Comcast, Verizon, and Time Warner Cable, reducing their incentives to invest in their respective networks. Without this investment, broadband technology will develop more slowly, and prices will be higher for consumers.

2. Net neutrality subsidizes large companies like Netflix and Facebook who don't need it.

In November, it was widely reported that Netflix alone accounts for over 35 percent of all Internet traffic in the US. If broadband providers were able to charge Netflix a small fee for the high volume of data they send, they could pass that money onto consumers in the form of lower monthly bills.

3. The new rules subvert democracy and the will of the people.

CBS News reported that two in three Americans are opposed to the idea of government regulating the Internet. Other polls show that opposition to net neutrality is even higher.

4. The new regulations will stifle free speech.

Lee E. Goodman, former chairman and a current commissioner of the Federal Election Commission, told Newsmax TV that a government takeover of the Internet will chill political speech.

5. The rule-making process was corrupted by the White House.

President Obama and White House staffers used backchannel meetings to pressure chairman Wheeler into creating the strongest possible net neutrality rules over the more moderate approach he originally intended. In this way, the White House operated "like a parallel version of the FCC itself," The Wall Street Journal reported.

6. The commission's vote wasn't transparent.

The new set of rules ushered in by Thursday's 3-2 vote were not provided to the public for comment. Ahead of the vote, one of the agency's five commissioners, Ajit Pai, tweeted a picture of the 317-page plan that he was barred from showing the public. Even after the vote, the rules will not be published publicly for many days.

7. The new rules will hurt the right to privacy, and further empower the federal government to spy on its citizens.

After Edward Snowden leaked the NSA's secret PRISM surveillance program in 2013, it became clear that the federal government is interested in snooping around in the private affairs of its citizens. Now that the federal government controls the web, its ability to spy will only increase.

Re: 'FUTURE OF ENTIRE INTERNET AT STAKE'

"Fair Use for Information & Educational Purposes"

Government Takeover of the Internet Begins

In a vote along party lines, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved what amounts to a government takeover of the Internet. FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler and his fellow Democrats, Mignon Clyburn and Jessica Rosenworcel, approved placing the Internet under Title II regulations. They will reclassify broadband as a telecommunications service, and regulate Internet Service Providers (ISPs) like utility companies, or “common carriers,” rather than “information services” that remain outside the agency’s regulatory power. Republican commissioners Ajit Pai and Michael O’Rielly dissented, with Pai explaining that net neutrality is “a solution that won’t work to a problem that doesn’t exist.”

The arrogance of Wheeler and his allies has been evident for some time. The 332-page proposal they approved was never made available to the public or Congress prior to the vote, even as Wheeler ignored pleas by Pai and O’Rielly to do so. “We respectfully request that FCC leadership immediately release the 332-page Internet regulation plan publicly and allow the American people a reasonable period of not less than 30 days to carefully study it,” they said in a statement released Monday.

Wheeler also ignored a similar request Wednesday to testify before the House Oversight Committee, eliciting condemnation from Committee Chairman, Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), and Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI). “So long as the chairman continues to insist on secrecy, we will continue calling for more transparency and accountability at the commission,” Chaffetz and Upton said in a statement. “Chairman Wheeler and the FCC are not above Congress.”Maybe not, but once again Republicans have made it clear they don’t have the stomach for a fight. Despite being virtually assured of yesterday’s outcome, they quietly surrendered, abandoning plans to come up with legislation that would have blocked this power grab. Even worse, they blamed their impotency on Democrats. “The Democrats have been pushed away from negotiating with us,” Senate Commerce Committee Chairman John Thune (R-SD) insisted. He also accused the Obama administration and FCC officials of convincing Democrats not to talk to his party about any proposed legislation until after the vote had transpired.Thune acknowledged the transparently obvious reality that after-the-fact legislation would be difficult to engender. “It gets more complicated, in my opinion,” he said. “That is what I told Democrats. Yes, you can wait until the 26th, but you are going to lose critical mass that I think is necessary to help with an alternative once the FCC acts.”

Thune is emblematic of a Republican party delusional enough to believe the party of expanding government would vote to limit that expansion, while he and his fellow GOPers have missed another opportunity to put a bill on Obama’s desk. While it is certain Obama would veto any measures to rein in the FCC, given his statement last November advocating net neutrality, Republicans apparently remain maddeningly unwilling to recognize the long-term political advantages of further defining the president as the constitutionally-challenged statist he truly is. Even their supposed investigations into whether the Obama improperly influenced the FCC’s net-neutrality proposal remain in limbo. Once again as it is with immigration, Republicans believe the appearance of a fight is tantamount to having one.The implications of this decision are more far-reaching than most Americans might imagine. On Wednesday Thune warned that the FCC’s move could make it harder to prevent authoritarian regimes like Russia and China from exercising increasing control over the Internet, using the United Nations’ International Telecommunications Union (ITU) as their vehicle. The U.S. has consistently argued that the Internet is not a “telecommunication service” and therefore outside of the authority of the ITU. “How do you prevent ITU involvement when you’re pushing to reclassify the Internet under Title II of the Communications Act, and is everyone aware of that inherent contradiction?” Thune asked prior to the FCC vote. David Gross, a partner at the law firm Wiley Rein, and former ambassador to the ITU during the George W. Bush administration, agreed. He insisted the contradiction would undoubtedly make the job of my successors “much more complicated.”

Larry Strickling, the Commerce Department’s assistant secretary for communications and information disagreed, insisting Thune’s warning was not as “stark” as his description suggested. And while he admitted that China and Russia are actively seeking more Internet control through the U.N., there is no contradiction between net neutrality and opposing such power grabs. “I fundamentally don’t think this will change matters going forward,” Strickling said. “The United States is opposed to intergovernmental resolution to these Internet issues. We will remain opposed to that.”Really? Then why did the Obama administration relinquish control of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) that manages Internet infrastructure to the so-called “global community” last March? Prior to that relinquishment the U.S. had always played the principal role in maintaining the master database for domain names, the assignment of Internet protocol addresses and other critical Web functions known as the the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). Under the previous contract that expires next September, nations could only suppress Internet content, not the registration of domain names. If those parameters change, domain name registry could be censored under the auspices of protecting one’s national sovereignty.

Valerie, it looks like it's already happening. I went to the other website just now to see if there were any news about Netanyahu's coming election, and EVERY SINGLE TIME I clicked on a news item about Obama or Netanyahu, the message, "page not found" came up, and it took me back to the home page. It looks like we are already being censored. And when I clicked on the other items, like prayer requests, or anything other than news items, I had no problem with the posts coming up.

I will do the same thing here, and see if this has affected this website, too. That is alarming. Looks like our freedom of speech is going out the window.

Re: 'FUTURE OF ENTIRE INTERNET AT STAKE'

Lisaleenie, I have had that happening to me too when I try to listen to a video on some sites or access articles about things like Putin's disappearance. Like you, I believe that there is already some censorship happening. Also, I noticed that since this morning the RITA Now site is down.

Re: 'FUTURE OF ENTIRE INTERNET AT STAKE'

Oh, my goodness, that's happening with you, too? It looks like the censorship is already happening. Thank God it hasn't hit here yet, and praying that it doesn't.

Lisaleenie,

Yes I believe it is already happening, spotted in places as here and there. However, it just a matter of time when it will become more frequent, and some will not even be able to access an internet connection at all. Censorship, our freedom of speech is being violated. We are beginning to lose the ability of sharing our thoughts freely online.

Please remember to keep RFTH in your prayers, so it doesn't get shut down.

In the meantime, let us continue to share, about the Lord's soon coming, and the Gospel while we still have the time and opportunity to do so.

Maranatha!

Valerie

Re: 'FUTURE OF ENTIRE INTERNET AT STAKE'

Thanks, Kathy, those were good articles. I remember a speech once by Netanyahu saying that Israel was one of the Middle Eastern nations that welcomes Christians.

Good point from this excerpt from the second article:

The decision to accept or reject a deal with Iran over its nuclear weapons program may be the most important foreign policy issue of the 21st century. Many members of Congress, perhaps most, agree with the Prime Minister of Israel, rather than with the President of the United States on this issue.

"Fair Use for Information and Discussion Purposes"

I loved the speech that Netanyahu made before Congress, and was impressed how warmly greeted he was by the members of Congress there.

Valerie, I just finished praying for RFTH, along with other Christian websites, that the Lord will protect us from being shut down or hindered by what we want to say or post.

I also pray for you on a daily basis, that the Lord will heal you of all distresses, that He will give you wisdom and guidance when it comes to moderating this wonderful website, and also that He blesses you financially as you support this site single handed.

I also pray for healing for your sister, Kathy.

Love to you both, and everyone here at RFTH. Thank you for your prayers for me.

'You're Playing God with the Internet!' Republican Shouts at FCC Chief

Congressional Republicans are united in their anger over new net neutrality regulations—but no one could match the fury displayed by Rep. Louie Gohmert on Wednesday. "You're playing God with the Internet!" the Texas Republican shouted at Tom Wheeler, the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, during a House Judiciary Committee hearing.
Wheeler was testifying in the fifth and final congressional hearing in just eight days over his controversial net neutrality decision. While Wheeler and other Democrats argue that the rules will ensure people can access whatever online content they want, Republicans consider them an unnecessary burden on Internet providers that will stifle investment.

Gohmert, who is well known for his often bombastic defense of conservative principles, was subdued when he first began questioning the FCC chief. He asked Wheeler what congressional authority the FCC has for the new rules and whether the commission will leave some room for Internet providers to reach creative business deals.

Wheeler pointed to the Telecommunications Act of 1996 for legal justification of the regulations, and responded that, yes, Internet providers still will have some freedom to experiment with new business models.

That's when Gohmert pounced: "I would submit to you that something in 1996 had nothing to do with wanting you to take charge of the Internet," Gohmert said, his voice rising. "And I would also thank you for your willingness to leave some room for exploratory business models and new business models—that's really so gracious of you. Because before the FCC stepped in, everyone was able to explore new business models!"

Wheeler didn't get a chance to respond to Gohmert's tirade. But earlier in the hearing, he argued that the big Internet providers are continuing to invest in their networks despite the net neutrality regulations. "Openness without fear of pay-to-play is the key to innovation," he said.

The rules bar Internet providers from blocking websites, selectively slowing down traffic, or creating any special "fast lanes" for sites that pay more.

Google and the Obama White House, sitting in a tree?

The search giant's relationship with the president stretches back to 2007 and is cozy as can
When President Barack Obama dined with a dozen technology business leaders in California four years ago, it was Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt who sat at the head of the table. Obama sat on one side, between the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and Facebook pioneer Mark Zuckerberg, but the place of honor was no accident.
