So I saw the thread about the "prettiest songs ever" and I thought, hmmmm wonder what the saddest ones are?
So here's a quick list of my personal depressing songs

Hallelujah- Jeff Buckley
There Is a Light That Never Goes Out- The Smiths
How Soon Is Now?- The Smiths
Where Is My Mind?- Pixies
Hurt- Johnny Cash/ Nine Inch Nails (Both versions are depressing)
Sia - Breathe Me. Could be somewhat related to the fact that its played during the last minutes of the series finale of Six Feet Under, which was slightly emotional.
Beck - Lonesome Tears
Modest Mouse - Dramamine
Arcade Fire - Crown of Love
Anthony and the Johnsons - Her Eyes Are Underneath the Ground
The Decemberists - The Bagman's Gambit
Joni Mitchell - Blue
Ego Triping at the Gates of Hell- Flaming Lips
Me and a Gun- Tori Amos
the Drugs Don't Work- th Verve
Special Needs- Placebo
Help the Aged- Pulp
When I Die- Lush
Darklands- Jesus and Mary Chain
The Luxury of Loneliness- Her Space Holiday

There's at least a dozen each by: The Smiths,Joy Division,New Order,The Cure,Nine Inch Nails. Actually,I think some of the most depressing songs are those instrumentals at the end of David Bowie's 'Low' album - they sound really bleak.
