Like I said in the artists thread, I can't think of another highly acclaimed band where for the most part most of their catalog is ignored. So, what are your favorite songs that aren't on those albums?

All of "Wish You Were Here." Seriously, that album is brilliant (their best in my opinion). Their style just works so well in that album and the emotions are genuinely heartfelt.

They've been my favourite band since about 1972.
My top ten doesn't include any Wall or DSOTM songs anyway.

the whole of wish you were here is amazing. anthony said in another thread that the comfortably numb solo is the best advertisement for the fender stratocaster. to me, the best advertisement for the strat is that 4 note riff that appears a few minutes into shine on you crazy diamond. that guitar sounds unbelievable. to get that sound, not only would i buy a strat, but i would buy the amp, and every effects processor he uses between them. anyway, that guitar sound contributes to an amazing song, which contributes to an amazing album. so i'm going to have to go with penguin and midaso and put "all of 'wish you were here'" as my favorite pink floyd tracks that aren't on dsotm or the wall.

I agree Jade. To me, the Strat kind of ruined Pink Floyd. Although, I don't mind Comfortably Numb either.

Have you heard “Summer ‘68” from “Atom Heart Mother”? An excellent Rick Wright composition with some sunshine-pop flavour.



By the way, “Atom Heart Mother” is a strange album, with 3 great songs sandwiched between 2 crashing bores (like Morrissey would say).
And another favourite of mine is “Chapter 24” from the first album.

i think dark side and the wall are definitely their two best albums. never got into that goofy acid-gobbler, though i guess he wrote some good songs, and his bio is the stuff of rock legends...
