Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

I think my bracket is pretty screwed. Don't know why I picked Wisconsin and West Virginia in my money bracket, but picked USC and Duke here. Hedging my bets I guess.

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

You're still on pace with the leaders.

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

The Tennessee/Butler game today will be verrrrry interesting for us...

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

Indeed, schleuse! I'm verrrry nervous about it!

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

Well, you have more riding on it than I do, Moonbeam, but if I'm reading this right, whichever of us wins that matchup will have the lead going into the Sweet 16 (although everybody is still definitely in contention).

I've been doing this on the other thread, but I'll go ahead and put it here today:

In the Tennessee/Butler game,
John, Moonbeam, AJackson, Greg and Stammer have Tennessee.
Penguin, Rocky and I have Butler.

Other than that game, there's not quite as much drama today. All eight of us picked Texas, Georgetown, Memphis, Louisville and UNC for the Sweet 16.

Unsurprisingly, none of us picked Villanova/Siena or WKU/San Diego. We can rest secure in the knowledge that all of us blew both of those contests. Enjoy.

(Villanova/Siena? What is this, an Italian tournament?)

For everybody who's bored silly by all this, don't worry--tomorrow we'll get back to all music, all the time (well, until Thursday).

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

Wheeeeeeeewww!

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

Congratulations, Moonbeam. Hell of a game.

Also, congratulations, Greg--great win for the Davidson Wildcats.

I leave you with this:

When some loud braggart tries to put me down
And says his school is great
I tell him right away
Now what's the matter, buddy
Ain't you heard of my school?
It's number one in the state

So be true to your school
Just like you would to your girl or guy
Be true to your school now
And let your colors fly
Be true to your school

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

While I may be leading at this point, Schleuse's prospects are much better than mine, with 7 of his Elite 8 still alive and all of his Final 4 teams still in the mix.

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

What a thrilling game between Xavier and West Virginia! It's hard not to like both teams, and I hope each can finally shake its unsung status.

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

I'm still going strong with my other bracket if Xavier can get to the final four. Crossing fingers because it's like a $1000 dollar payout for taking first $500 something for second and only one person above me has Xavier in the final four. I haven't figured out if anyone could still beat me though.

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

And there goes my bracket here up in flames. Fortunately, in my main bracket I only had Tennessee advancing to the Elite 8.

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

Don't call it a comeback! How much money did we all agree to?

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

Well with all my brackets completely in shambles I'm jumping on the Davidson bandwagon and rooting for them to win it all.

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

holy davidson! schleuse, is your wife as psyched as i am?

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

Yep. She's starting to check ticket brokers online for Final Four tix (since it'll only be 200 miles away).

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

Heh. Good luck with that.

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

Getting tickets, or beating the Jayhawks? (She's having so much fun that I don't want to dash her hopes, but, yeah, I don't think they have a prayer against KU.)

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

KU always seems to struggle against mid-majors. I think Davidson has a real shot against them. They are legit.

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

I was talking about getting tickets this late. Davidson could win.

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

What a lame final 4. I was really pulling for Davidson and they should have been able to get off a better shot than that!

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

How many of you here are not American. What do you think of how this tournament is structured and do you like it. The two freshmen Derrick Rose and Kevin Love have made a big impact on their teams. This is one sporting event that does it right here in the states.

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

I was actually rooting for KU. I grew up in Lawrence, Kansas, so I had to.

And I'm still winning! Just need Memphis to win it all and I'm all set.

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

Wow Kansas is destroying UNC. Did not expect this at all.

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

Just like the tourney, there's only two left. Everybody has both their championship teams eliminated except Schleuse and Penguin. If Memphis wins, Penguin wins. If Kansas wins, Schleuse wins. Oh, the drama! I won't be rooting for Calipari.

1. Penguin: 107 points- Total possible:118
2. Schleuse: 100 points- Total possible: 111

All the rest are final tallies:

3. Rocky Racoon: 97
4. Stammer: 90
5. AJackson: 84
6. Moonbeam: 82
8. Greg and John: 76

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

Penguin, are you a Big Dipper fan?

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

Not that it makes any difference to me, but isn't Penguin the winner? How can Schleuse get more points if he picked Texas to win?

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

Oops, you're right. I looked at his bracket wrong and thought he had Kansas as the champ. Schleuse wins no matter if Memphis does or not. Congrats, Schleuse: You are our resident bracketologist.

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

And I up again. Congrats, Penguin! Sorry, it's been a long day.

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

I was gonna say--I tinkered with the numbers after last weekend and concluded there was no way I could win after Memphis blew out the Horns.

Congratulations, Penguin!

(Heh...Memphis blew out the Horns. Sorry; I'm easily amused this morning.)

Re: The Real Bracketology Updates

Thanks guys. Since I have no more reason to root for Memphis, Kansas all the way in the Championship game!
