#1 The Beatles
#9 Bob Seger
#5 The Band
#4 Sam Cooke
#3 Aretha Franklin
#6 Muddy Waters
#10 Neil Diamond - Am I the only one who thinks the Bee Gees were watered down, uninspired disco? Should I acquaint myself with their earlier work? Still, I like Diamond and he deserves my vote regardless of my feelings for the Brothers Gibb.

#8 Fats Domino
#5 The Band (by the way The Spinners were '70s)
#4 Sam Cooke
#3 Aretha Franklin
#6 Muddy Waters

These are based loosely off of each artists debut single or album. Artists like The Spinners, Zeppelin, Bowie, Chicago etc made there mark in the 70's but debuted in the 60's. That is why you will find them here.

hmmmmmm not sure how I feel about this. That means a band like Nirvana who is really intrinsically associated with the 90's will be placed in the 80's category simply because of a long forgotten 1989 debut.
#1 The Beatles (tough break for Herbie, a very inventive jazz artist)
#8 Fats Domino (This may be an 8/9 matchup but it’s the easiest one today.)
#5 The Band
#4 Sam Cooke
#3 Aretha Franklin (wow, Moonbeam must really hate Dean Martin)
#6 Muddy Waters (even Page, Beck and Clapton would agree with this one)
#7 Bee Gees (Gibb cheese and Neil cheese cancels out here)
#2 Johnny Cash (sorry to show Martha the door so quickly, but this is no contest)
