Wow, I'm shocked that Baroness' new record, "The Blue Album" isn't on the chart yet. I guess it's really only die hard metal mags covering it. But, those who like Mastodon MUST check Baroness out. Fantastic stuff, they're on the cover of Decibel's November issue.

Like them, this is my main source for new music as well. Screw Metacritic and their strange weights and English-language only sources! If Henrik does stop updating this site later, I hope Stefan continues this somewhere.

Wow, pleasantly surprised how high Girls are, since I live in San Francisco. I agree Embryonic isn't getting its due, but then it's a challenging work.

Metacritic comes off better if you only count stuff that's gotten 15 or more reviews, but it is too english-centric. (The tradeoff being it includes more sources, and isn't biased against genres that get fewer reviews or are regionally ignored.)

But my best source for new music isn't the metacritic site, it's the metacritic forum. Those guys listen to everything, and they get their leaks waaaay in advance.
