Boo to no Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.

Re: A list that should be considered in the acclaimed albums of the 2000's

I'm guessing they've only existed since 2003 or 2004. Kings of Leon is high, but at least they got the right one of theirs.

yeah it's not a decade list, more of a half decade list so YHF isn't included cause it came out before this magazine was made

ooooooooooooooh...D'oh.

Re: A list that should be considered in the acclaimed albums of the 2000's

LCD Soundsystem over Sound of Silver? How many people honestly agree with that? Other than that, this list is pretty standard stuff. I do think it's interesting to see a decade list without all the heavy-hitters from `00-`02.

Sign me up! I really don't like Sound of Silver.

I do. Sound of silver is a great album, don´t get me wrong, but by 2007 this whole ´80s inspired punk-funk-dance thing was somewhat over. LCD Soundsystem´s self-titled first album sounds much more urgent, in my opinion.

Re: A list that should be considered in the acclaimed albums of the 2000's

Sound of Silver marked the transition of LCD Soundsystem from a cool, hip, somewhat snarky band to a cooler, hipper do-it-all band capable of anything- including emotional resonance.

Agreed. to me Sound of Silver was like the transition from Nirvana's Bleach to Nevermind or Sonic Youth's early material to Sister and Daydream Nation. It not only increased their accessibility and their audience, but also their artistic vocabulary.

For the record, I think "Losing My Edge" is a one note joke rather than a great song. It's got some legitimate insight, but musically it's a nothing song.
"All My Friends" on the other hand is a tour de force.
