Nav App 1957 Isles, Aviator (maiden voyage), Consul. Like many others went to the IT industry where I had a succesful sales and marketing career with IBM, 3M and Saab Technolgy before setting up my own company in Australia in 1980. In later years I lectured business courses in Sydney and Darwin before retiring in 2010. Now divide my time between Sydney and the SW France . Would love to make contact with people who I sailed with and remember me. Only one contact so far Bob Jones a fellow Nav App who has since passed away

I joined British India in 1965 as a Navigating cadet. Two school friends joine BP one as a deck cadet (Mike Bloomfield) and the other Mike Williams) as an engineering cadet. We used to meet up when on leave and partake of an alcoholic drink or two. Would like to know what happened to Mike Williams as our lives went seperate ways.

Hello!
Just came across your website.
I was a BP Radio Cadet, 1981-1984. Passed the MRGC at Leith Nautical College in 1983, and spent 5 months aboard the MV Vic Bilh which was a BP-crewed Elf 100kT tanker. I worked under R/Os Steve Taylor, David Bone and Pat Trant, and Captains Sid Garrett and McAlpine (spelling?). I left BP immediately after completing the Radar certificate in 1984, though I am still professionally involved with HF VHF and UHF radio - currently working as Sales Manager for Codan.

Both my brother, Roger Hepworth, and my father,Tony Hepworth, were engineers on BP tankers. My father died suddenly whilst serving on board ship off the coast of South Africa when I was 13.
Roger, having reached 2nd Engineer, I think, went on to sail with P & O, perhaps he sought a more glamorous lifestyle! Roger died in 2002, following an accident whilst working in Libya.
My close childhood friends and next-door neighbours, Janet and Marie Webster, were the daughters of Alec Webster, the CE on the British Crown when it exploded in 1966.
It was interesting to see so many names of ships and personnel that I remember from the dim and distant past.
