Fair Use for Information or Discussion Purposes

Following on the heels of this week’s domain seizure of a large hiphop file-sharing links forum, it’s clear today that the U.S. Government has been very busy. Without any need for COICA, ICE has just seized the domain of a BitTorrent meta-search engine along with those belonging to other music linking sites and several others which appear to be connected to physical counterfeit goods.

While complex, it’s still possible for U.S. authorities and copyright groups to point at a fully-fledged BitTorrent site with a tracker and say “that’s an infringing site.” When one looks at a site which hosts torrents but operates no tracker, the finger pointing becomes quite a bit more difficult.

When a site has no tracker, carries no torrents, lists no copyright works unless someone searches for them and responds just like Google, accusing it of infringement becomes somewhat of a minefield – unless you’re ICE Homeland Security Investigations that is.

This morning, visitors to the Torrent-Finder.com site are greeted with an ominous graphic which indicates that ICE have seized the site’s domain.

No it doesn't have to be posted in red.

The address url must accompany each and every single post from another site as well!

If anyone see's their post deleted and I haven't posted why I deleted it, then you'll know that it was improperly posted and had to be removed.

I have no choice but to take this forward method, because apparently, the sticky's above have not worked, due to the fact some people just don't read them.

I have been guilty of posting youtube songs and info youtubes without that disclaimer statement of "Fair use for ...." I thought it was just for news articles and didn't realize it stretched to those, so my apologies. Thanks for the info on that Valerie.

Once you post anything there is only a window of about 60 minutes to edit your own post. Anytime after that, all I can do is, get into my Bravenet account, and delete the posts in question. I can't edit any of the posts including my own.

I thank you for trying to help...you can all help by starting to use the Heading, and url address immediately.

I remember when you first started this site and became very fruitfilled and fruitful to Jesus Christ. The only thing you did not become is a fruit. No I'm only joking. I have so many fruits in there that I just had to throw that in the paragraph.

You have been through many things since than but I know that God has honored your hard work. Look at all the different types of people that have helped other people.

I only remember one time that you said,"Maybe I should not have started this site but I found myself not shaking my head on that one.

I apologize too Valerie. I've been posting the articles correctly, except that I had been putting the Header Title BELOW the "Fair Use for Information and Discussion Purposes."

Also, like TexasSue, I didn't realize we needed to do this for the YouTube videos, as when you click on them at the bottom-right corner, they take you directly to the original YouTube site. However, I will correct this from now on. I can certainly understand your worries and concern...as ANY Government agency is NO ONE to tangle with.

Don't worry whether you list the heading at the top or bottom, it's acceptable either way! Just make sure you put it on, especially on all videos's and articles from others sites, even if they are exempt before from copy-rites or have no copy-rite infringements posted !
