Films of the '80s: 1987

You can post a list of anywhere between 5 and 20 films (or more, but only 20 will be counted) from the year we're covering. The deciding factor in terms of release dates is the RYM list and the top 10 of each year will go on to the final top 100 round. The deadline is September 25th.

The points scheme is as follows:
1. 50 points
2. 40
3. 35
4. 30
5. 25
6. 20
7. 18
8. 16
9. 14
10. 12
11. 10
10. 9
...
20. 1
However, these are the maximum amounts of points. If you want to put certain films on your list but don't want to give them too many points, you can choose to give these less points than in this scheme (but never more) to decrease the impact on the overall results. If you don't specifically state that you want to give (some of) your films fewer points, I will assume the standard scheme.

Here are some lists to remind you of the great (and awful) films released in 1987, from a variety of sources:
IMDb
RYM
Films101
RottenTomatoes

Re: Films of the '80s: 1987

My only major recommendation that people probably haven't seen yet is Damnation. It's a Bela Tarr film, like Satantango except not seven hours long.

@Gillingham

I thought it was 1988 too but RYM says 1987. IMDB says the first release was 1988. Ruling Stephan?

Also, Aur Revior Les Enfants is excellent, it's a film about a Catholic school sheltering a Jewish boy during the holocaust.

Wings of Desire and Raising Arizona are two of my favorite films but most of you have already seen them.

Re: Films of the '80s: 1987

We go by RYM, so 1987.

I watched Wings of Desire and I'm a little disappointed. The later half was pretty amazing, but the first hour or so bored me half to death.

Re: Films of the '80s: 1987

I just noticed that Family Viewing is a 1987 movie in RYM (and 1988 movie in IMDB). While we go with the RYM years I'd say the movie is my new #13.
