Anyone know when their list is released? I know it will be full of the unual pretentious drivel but it does give you an idea of what the "cool kids" are listening to this year.
100 Tracks of the year on site today.

It seems that the Pitchfork's top albums of 2006 will be revealed tomorrow.
The Pipettes album had a very good Pitchfork's review. I hope it will be in their top 20, or maybe (let's dream a little) their top 10.
Just as a side comment, I'm loving how YouTube and MySpace have made most of these songs on year-end lists instantly available this year. I remember spending quite a bit of my holiday break at last year's end-of-list time searching all across the Internet for more obscure singles and albums. It was kind of fun to try all sorts of tricks to find songs, but mostly frustrating.
Stylus Magazine and Pitchfork's lists have all but a few of their songs linked this year. It's getting overwhelming to have so much access to so much interesting music!
It seems that "Black Sweat" is getting all the love that 3121 deserves. It's too bad- the album contains several better tracks and stands up very well as a whole.
Here's the list !

...wow, I was reading the countdown online (50 to #1), and I was expecting to see either Bob Dylan or Gnarls Barkley at #1, but neither are on the list at all!
2006 = rubbish year.
But at least they didnt put Arctic Monkeys on their list at all.
No Midlake in the list, what a shame !
No Gomez either. Have Gomez appeared on any lists yet?
22. LCD Soundsystem - 45:33
What is this? I haven't heard anything about it until the year-end lists began.
" 22. LCD Soundsystem - 45:33

I think it's something only released by i-tunes.
I would love to know what criteria people judge a year against? 2005, 1999, 1978, 1967? Throw all your CD's in the bin 2006 was rubbish. Why are we bothering talking about albums we enjoyed, secretly they are all rubbish. It's nice to have that kind of attitude. I'm glad some people
45:33 in a track by LCD Soundsystem commissioned by Nike that lasts 45mins 33 secs. It's like eight or nine tracks mixed together and it's designed to mirror the performance of a runner in a run. It's pretty damn good and the best bits of it (about 15 mins in) are used on "Someone Great" one of the best track in the forthcoming Sounds Of Silver ("All My Friends" is great too)
Mitchell people are quite entitled to say a year has been rubbish if there havent been any stand-out albums for them.

Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" is nowhere to be found on the list because Pitchfork, in a fit of premature ejaculation, placed it at 36 on their list last year.
Sorry to say, but it's becoming more and more obvious how fake & paranoid the so-called cool critics are.
I could've said this about a lot of other lists, but I know how Pitchfork is full of smartasses that would praise something just for sounding very alternative or difficult, while they write a lot of insulting reviews without any good reason. Sometimes their decade lists are alright, but it's mainly today's music that they play too many games with. They try to be cool, then they make certain picks so they won't get complaints about racism or not understanding today's pop. It ends up looking like
albums/songs being picked at random. I hate it when critics pick albums from genres they aren't familiar with just for credibility. It happens way more times
than it should, and they end up picking albums based on 1 popular song on it. Right now I'm talking about most critics & lists in general.
