The 30 best political albums

Another “non-eligible-for-AM” list (the “non-genre-specific” type) but interesting enough to be posted. It was published by Mondo Sonoro in November 2006 under the name “Música y compromiso: los 30 mejores discos politicos” (“Music and compromise: the 30 best political records). You can find it in http://www.mondosonoro.com/destacats_especiales.asp but here’s the list:

1. RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE “Rage Against the Machine” (1992)
2. THE CLASH “London Calling” (1979)
3. BOB DYLAN “The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan” (1963)
4. PUBLIC ENEMY “Fear of a Black Planet” (1990)
5. BLACK FLAG “Damaged” (1981)
6. GANG OF FOUR “Entertainment!” (1979)

29. McCARTHY “I’m a Wallet” (1989)
30. THE TOM ROBINSON BAND “Power in the Darkness”

The only Spanish contribution is “Gure Jarrera” by Negu Gorriak (well, they wouldn’t be happy to be filed under “Spanish”, they’re from the Basque Country and with a strong ideological compromise with Basque left-wing nationalism).
