Thanks for putting this up, Kurt. Maybe you're like me in that it takes me about a year to catch up and buy all the acclaimed albums from a year before!
1. Caribou - The Milk of Human Kindess
2. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - s/t
3. Deerhoof - The Runners Four
4. Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
5. LCD Soundsystem - s/t
6. Raveonettes - Pretty in Black
7. Vitalic - OK Cowboy
8. Volcano! - Beautiful Seizure
9. Kanye West - Late Registration
10. Kaiser Chiefs - Employment
The top 4 are definitely in my personal top 100 of all time.
2005 was such a good music year IMO, I miss it already
I agree. I'm amazed when someone comes up with a list like "the top 30 albums of the year so far", that makes me feel that I'm not catching up at all. Actually I have to admit that making a list of favorite albums from 2005 is still difficult for me...
What if we did a poll of the best albums of year [current-X] at every end of year? Where X would be ?????
1. Richard Swift - "The novelist/Walking without effort"
2. Hal - "Hal"
3. My Morning Jacket - "Z"
4. of Montreal - "The sunlandic twins"
5. Jens Lekman - "Oh! You're so silent Jens"
6. Josh Rouse - "Nashville"
7. Richard Hawley - "Coles corner"
8. Paul McCartney - "Chaos and creation in the backyard"
9. The Coral - "The invisible invasion"
10.Mercury Rev - "The secret migration"
Unfortunately since I'm not a music critic, I have a limited CD buying budget, so my top 10 list of the year is close to all of the albums I've purchased that year! I'm not much of a music geek, I know. Maybe the unit of ten for end-of-year lists is too rigid for some of us.
Henrik... are you saying we should just pick any year at random and make a top 10 list? Sounds like fun.
