The Ramones are constantly displayed as the first "punk" band, but in my opinion the stooges sound punk enough to be the first ones since they were earlier. Any opinions? Shout em out!

thats awesome. im so glad somebody else pointed that out! wow! cause i think the same thing. this is really great. and i happen to enjoy the stooges better than the ramones, though the ramones are nearly equally fantastic. raw power and fun house are really great. but thank you for pointing that out. i love it.

1969 - The MC5 were first referred to as a "punk band"

Hey, don't forget the Velvet Underground, with White Heat, White Light, and the New York Dolls. Still these bands are considered Pre-Punk, and more or less Hard Rock. The Ramones and the Stooges really brought the edgy guitars, but all these bands have an attitude of being punk.
