Best Moderately Acclaimed Album 2: Quarterfinals

This is it, we're down to the phase where all albums are playing in every week.

Nobody is left with more than one nomination, except for beefsupreme, who nominated Liquid Swords and L.A.M.F. At this point the only one who could possibly beat beefsupreme in total wins by nominated albums is Bradley E Green, who nominated The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

Division 1 final:

Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One vs
Ennio Morricone - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Division 2 final:

Serge Gainsbourg - Initials B.B. vs
GZA/Genius - Liquid Swords

Division 3 final:

Wilco - Summerteeth vs
The Cure - Seventeen Seconds

Division 4 final:

The Heartbreakers - L.A.M.F. vs
Built To Spill - Perfect From Now On

Now, all tiebreakers will be point-buy tiebreakers, and they will last a day.

The second best album of this game. Maybe the best soundtrack of all times.

Division 2 final:
WINNER - Serge Gainsbourg - Initials B.B. vs
GZA/Genius - Liquid Swords
THE best album of the game. All the songs are hits !

Division 3 final:
Wilco - Summerteeth vs

An excellent album.

I need to listen to both Division 2 albums once more before voting.

I don't get how L.A.M.F. has come this far. It's only rock'n'roll.

Re: Best Moderately Acclaimed Album 2: Quarterfinals

D1: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

D2: Initials B.B.

D3: Seventeen Seconds

D4: L.A.M.F. (yes, it's only rock'n'roll but I like it; and sorry for the obviety, Noel Redding, I mean, Henrik)

Re: Best Moderately Acclaimed Album 2: Quarterfinals

At least I can rest assured knowing one of my nominations ("Boston") was taken out by one of the final eight albums.

Re: Best Moderately Acclaimed Album 2: Quarterfinals

GZA/Genius - Liquid Swords
Serge Gainsbourg - Initials B.B.
Wilco - Summerteeth
The Cure - Seventeen Seconds
Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One
Ennio Morricone - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
The Heartbreakers - L.A.M.F.
Built To Spill - Perfect From Now On

A resounding BOO to these matchups.

Initials B.B. is awesome, and would get my vote if it were just a little more consistent. GBU might have better music than I Can Hear The Heart, but it's not a solid album, for the simple reason that it wasn't designed to be. L.A.M.F. reminds me of the Ramones, and if they're going to make music like that they need a little more going on with the guitars. But Perfect From Now on is duuullll.

Re: Best Moderately Acclaimed Album 2: Quarterfinals

I haven't heard all these albums and only vote in
division 3.As much as I love the Cure, I don't think 17 seconds is so great. Whereas Summerteeth is awesome.

DIVISION 3: Wilco - Summerteeth

Re: Best Moderately Acclaimed Album 2: Quarterfinals

I can only vote in one matchup:

Yo La Tengo wins!

Re: Best Moderately Acclaimed Album 2: Quarterfinals

Ennio morricone
Serge
Wilco
Built to spill

Re: Best Moderately Acclaimed Album 2: Quarterfinals

One more day to vote.

I haven't counted the votes yet, but based on a glance they all seem competitive.

Re: Best Moderately Acclaimed Album 2: Quarterfinals

Division 1 final: Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One
Division 2 final: Serge Gainsbourg - Initials B.B.
Division 3 final: Wilco - Summerteeth
Division 4 final: The Heartbreakers - L.A.M.F.

Re: Best Moderately Acclaimed Album 2: Quarterfinals

Update:

Right now every single match is separated by one vote. Two 6-5s and two 5-4s.

Re: Best Moderately Acclaimed Album 2: Quarterfinals

Ennio Morricone - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly 6 def
Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One 5

Serge Gainsbourg - Initials B.B. 5 def
Genius/GZA - Liquid Swords 4

The Cure - Seventeen Seconds 6 def
Wilco - Summerteeth 5

The Heartbreakers L.A.M.F. 5 def
Built To Spill - Perfect From Now On 4

In the quarterfinals, the lower ranked album won all four matches.

Predict It is now simple. If Serge Gainsbourg wins his semifinal match, Brad wins. If Ennio Morricone does, Nassim wins.

Damn! Underdog power! Rub that off on Jimi! I've ogt to vote this week.

Re: Best Moderately Acclaimed Album 2: Quarterfinals

I was on vacation all last week, but I would have voted for all 4 albums that lost. That would have made things interesting.

Re: Best Moderately Acclaimed Album 2: Quarterfinals

Oh no...I missed the vote...

Oh, well...Summerteeth is still a masterpiece, and Seventeen Seconds still only has 3 good songs.

Re: Best Moderately Acclaimed Album 2: Quarterfinals

I wish you'd voted Jackson, that would have been really fun to have the entire field decided by people deciding which albums to spend their tiebreak points on.
