Acclaimed Music World Tour: Round #6, Minneapolis

We're back in the USA for the 4th of July with a concert in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The rules are as follows:

In voting for this week's HEADLINER, voters have 10 points to distribute among as many artists as they like, with a maximum of 6 points for any one artist. The artist with the most points will be the HEADLINER while the runner-up will take the position of OPENING ACT.

In voting for this week's SET LIST, voters have 25 points to distribute among as many songs as they like, with a maximum of 12 points for any one song. The top ten songs will be played at this week's show.

Remember that the artists or songs that you choose should be associated with Minneapolis or locations nearby in some way.

The most acclaimed artists of/connected to Minneapolis and locations nearby according to Acclaimed Music (with their all-time rank in parentheses) are:

Bob Dylan (3)
Prince (7)
Hüsker Dü (108)
The Replacements (144)
Judy Garland (506)
Low (605)
The Jayhawks (714)
Peggy Lee (906)
Lipps Inc. (1013)
The Andrews Sisters (1322)

I couldn't find any acclaimed songs about Minneapolis.

You may of course vote for any artist or song you like provided they have some connection to Minneapolis or somewhere nearby. Songs can be about Minneapolis, they can be written by an artist from Minneapolis or any other link you can draw to the city.

Voting will end at 11:59 PM on Monday, July 11, 2011.

One of the most renowned nightclubs in the Midwest will serve as the venue for this week's show: the First Avenue nightclub in downtown Minneapolis. Seating just over 1,000 patrons, nearly every great local act has passed through its doors, including some that reached legendary status, most notably Prince (who created what would become known as the "Minneapolis sound" with his blend of R&B, rock, funk and pop) but also two of the great college rock bands of the eighties: Hüsker Dü and the Replacements.

Next week the tour will venture all the way down south for the first time to Austin, Texas.
