#3 Eagles vs. #6 Kool & The Gang vs. #11 Devo

#1 The Clash vs. #9 The O’Jays
#5 Big Star vs. #4 Genesis
#3 Aerosmith vs. #6 Kate Bush
#7 Journey vs. #2 Lou Reed
#1 Elton John - Neck and neck for the first part of my thinking through this matchup, Elton put on the afterburniners after I gave it some more thought.
#4 The Jam
#11 Devo
#10 Chic - Definitely a difficult choice, and I'm still not sure that it is the right one (although I'm sure it won't matter for the results). Both Ramones and Chic have given me a lot of pleasure.
#1 The Clash
#5 Big Star
#3 Aerosmith
#2 Lou Reed
#1 Elton John (just barely)
#4 The Jam
#11 Devo
#10 Chic
#9 The O’Jays (more fun choice)
#4 Genesis
#6 Kate Bush (something went wrong with the seeding here...)
#2 Lou Reed
#1 Elton John
#5 Rod Stewart
#3 Eagles
#2 Ramones
#1 The Clash
#5 Big Star
#3 Aerosmith
#2 Lou Reed (The coolest man in rock versus possibly the least cool band, should be a blowout but probably won't be)
#1 Elton John (Not the most exciting matchup, but decent)
Don't care (Rod would have won if he had quit making music in the '70s)
#3 Eagles (I once played Prince's debut album for my uncle and told him it was Kool & the Gang's debut. He didn't like Prince, but he liked K&TG. He enjoyed it — still don't know if he figured out it was Prince)
#2 Ramones (This is Dallas blowing out the Lakers)
#1 The Clash (O'Jays are cool and all, but ...)
#5 Big Star
#3 Aerosmith
#2 Lou Reed (Journey sucks)
#1 Elton John
#4 The Jam
#11 Devo
#2 Ramones
#1 The Clash
#5 Big Star
#6 Kate Bush
If Aerosmith ended their career in the 70's, I might vote for them. Steven Tyler has turned into such an absurd parody of himself, exaggerating his mannerisms to ridiculousness and judging superficial-oriented reality shows, I no longer respect him.
#2 Lou Reed
#9 The Cars: Very easy choice.
#4 The Jam: I have a soft spot for Rod Stewart's cheesy 80s stuff ("Crazy About Her", "Forever Young", etc.), but I'm warming to The Jam.
#11 Devo: Eagles blow chunks. Kool and the Gang could sway me if I knew their less overplayed stuff, but Devo gets this.
#10 Chic: Brutal choice here. Today, I'm feeling more in a Chic mood.
#1 The Clash: They should cruise through this and the next round.
Pass (big meh to both)
#3 Aerosmith: Very tough choice. Pump is my favorite album between the two, and "Janie's Got a Gun" my favorite song between the two, so that tilted it Aerosmith's way.
#2 Lou Reed: Easy choice.
#1 Elton John - close
#5 Rod Stewart very close
#6 Kool & The Gang - seems strange voting for them, but I honestly enjoy them the most of these 3 acts
#2 Ramones
#1 The Clash
#5 Big Star - close
#3 Aerosmith
#2 Lou Reed
#1 Elton John
#5 Rod Stewart- Basing this off one album. I like some Jam songs but I don't have an album that I like. Rod Stewart's work is for the most part awful but Every Picture Tells a Story is a classic.
#6 Kool & The Gang
#2 Ramones
#1 The Clash
#5 Big Star
#3 Aerosmith
#2 Lou Reed
