And once again, I have gone with all the higher seeds in the 60’s region. I wonder if this is because critical consensus has settled down for the earliest artists more definitively than for more recent acts…
The only upset I was seriously tempted to pick here was Serge Gainsbourg – who I would happily have chosen over some of the other higher seeds today (I also briefly considered Kenny Rogers and Tony Bennett, before I thought better of it).
The prospective 1/2 matchup here – which, contra Moonbeam, I’m sure will happen – will be fantastic; I’m guessing that VU is the overall #8 in this region and the Who is the overall #9? They’re two bands in whom I’ve gained a lot more insight and respect in the last year or two.

#1 The Velvet Underground - I like, BST, but come on now.
#9 Santana
#5 The Temptations
#4 Fleetwood Mac - Tougher call than you might think. With his smooth, silky vocals, Rogers is a pimp.
#3 Van Morrison - Almost voted Bennett, but changed my mind. Don't care for either of them much.
#6 Smokey Robinson & The Miracles
#7 Howlin’ Wolf
#2 The Who
#1 VU - Just cuz they influenced alot of the bands I like.
#8 The Animals - "House Of The Rising Sun" and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" still F'n rock.
#5 The Temptations - Soooo many great songs it's ridiculous
#13 Kenny - I hate Fleetwood Mac and I like chicken!!!
#3 Van Morrison - Not a huge fan, but "Into The Mystic" is a great song.
#6 Smokey Robinson & The Miracles - Another amazing run of great singles.

Was Moonbeam the only one who voted for Chubby? I can't imagine many would vote for a guy who sang the same song 27 times.
Yes. Moonbeam was the only one to vote for Chubby.
Yeah, I like this song more than the entirety of The Who's output.
