#1 Public Enemy
Pass (Ozzy is a joke post-Sabbath, and Toad the Wet Sprocket is just awful. They completely ruined the mediocre Monty Python sketch from which they took their name.)
#5 Sade
#4 The Flaming Lips
#3 Hüsker Dü (I truly hate having to boot SRV, the man who invented Austin, in round one.)
#11 X
X is a fantastic band; they were the absolute cream of the LA punk scene, and they’re probably in my all-time top ten artists. It’s too bad they won’t win, since John Doe and Exene, on their worst day, still had more cool, chops and inventiveness than Roland Orzabal could ever muster. Check ‘em out if you haven’t.
(Nothing against TFF, a nice little band. I actually think their first album, The Hurting, is still the best thing they ever did.)
On we go…
#7 Talk Talk (One of the great sleepers of all time – a seemingly standard-issue synth band that evolved into a proto-Radiohead.)
Pass (I seriously dislike Metallica, and it’s tempting to vote against them since that won’t prevent them from winning easily. But I don’t need to start my Friday by voting for a pipsqueak like Brian Setzer.)

Toad - Very Underrated band
Sade - Smoooooth!!!
Night Ranger - It's a guilty pleasure, that cannot be explained.
Husker Du - Is there a bad song in the catalogue?
TFF
BDP - I like Talk Talk, but there is something special about KRS-One.
Metallica - You just can't F with the first 4 albums.

The regions were catagorized by the decade in which each artist debuted instead of the decade in which they were most prevelant. It makes it less of an opinion and creates more diverse matchups in some cases.
