UMT 2011

This thread is open for anyone who wants to provide their top 100 artist list for next years tournament. certainly anyone who wants to resubmit their top 100 list from the last poll Moonbeam so eliquently put together that is ideal. It would also be an opportunity to create a list that will make a huge difference in artist participation and seeding, because that is the goal. Fell free to add your lists to this thread, I will also add all the lists I receive from non-AMers. I am also going to use the last VH1 top 100 list, the Billboard top 100 of all-time and a few others.

The deadline to submit is October 31, 2010.

Please keep this thread to the top 100 lists.

The plan is to publish the final rankings in the beginning of December and begin UMT 2011 on the first week of February.

Thanks again to all who have participated and will participate in the future.

I hear you want all the voters who voted in your tournament to submit their top 100 artists of all-time. I say the heck with VH1. I don't even watch VH1 anymore. I think it's all Hollywood now to be honest with you and of course, they'll put Bon Jovi at number 1 who I absolutely hate and not even mention Rush who I certainly would put in my top 10. wow- that's quite a tall order Henry, but I'd be glad to. It'll take me a couple days or so to pull this together; in the meantime, I'm confident I can get input on some of these artists from other AMers (for example, I know there's a whole thread devoted to Gainsbourg you may want to look at). And can I give you whole albums, or are you just looking for particular songs?

OK Henry- Now that the weekend's over, I can give this a shot. Here are some song suggestions for the artists you asked about. Thanks to everyone else who pitched in as well!

(19) Of Montreal - The Past Is A Grotesque Animal, Bunny Ain't No Kind Of Rider

I dislike most of Hissing Fauna, but The Past Is A Grotesque Animal is a marvelous song, both musically and lyrically. I have listened to it about 50 times in Septembre I think.

Brad

((27) Wire - Mannequin, Ex-Lion Tamer

I would have chosen Dot Dash and Outdoor Miner but who cares, they have made many great songs which work even better as a part of their album

Brad

(57) Built To Spill - Velvet Waltz, Conventional Wisdom

I think I am the one who ranked them the highest in his all time list. Doug Marsch has to be one of the best guitarist ever, he is able to convey such a wide array of emotion with his 6 chords.
Perfect from Now On is the latest induction on my top 20 albums, and Velvet Waltz climbed in a few weeks to my top 10 songs all time, never leaving it since then (about a year ago). I Would Hurt a Fly has a safe spot in my top 50 all time too.
And There's Nothing Wrong With Love and Keep It Like a Secret are fantastic albums too, the three being very different from one another.

Re: UMT 2011

I am in the process of totaling everything up and will be closing the submittal time for any top 100 lists on the 31st.

Re: UMT 2011

Right now I am about 1/2 way totalling up the votes. I have a formula in place where about 25% is from the results of the last tourney, 25% is in direct correlation with their AM ranking and 50% are based off of the voting from the 33 top 100 lists.

As it stands right now there will be about 700 artists from the last tourney and about 300 or so new entries. I have totalled everything through the F's and I think when the new seedings come out it will be a pretty good represenation of all 3 entities. I will share results once they are finished. Or at least part of them.

Thanks again to everyone who took the time to share their top 100 lists.
