Smith is a little overrated, but Rod Stewart is too gimmicky and his albums have too many covers.

Coasters are a bit high on the cheese factor, though I appreciate them.

I like the tongue in cheek dorkiness, even if they often border a bit much on cheesy.

ROD -- Too many people missed out on the music of Elliott Smith and as much of a d-bag Mr. Stewart is, he has a bit of a legacy and his early 70's stuff was really really good...
COASTERS -- What a FUGLY 2nd round matchup...
AL GREEN -- There is a reason why Cake & Cameo tied in the 1st round, they are not in the same league as Mr. Green...
K&G -- Jewel has the healthiest pair of lungs in the industry, but if you take away the horrendous "Celebration" K&G are solid!!!!
KINKS -- Lupe has some serious talent, but the 60's version of The Kinks were amazing...
ZOMBIES -- One of my fav bands of the 60's and while I do enjoy a handful of Skynyrd songs, they have subjected me to "Freebird" and "Sweet Home Alabama" so many times I get a gag reflex every time I hear them...
M20 -- Call me crazy, but Matchbox's ordinary alt/pop sound isn't that offensive...
CCR -- The Gap band has some fun party tunes, but CCR had so many rediculously good songs in what was really a 4 year career it's silly...

Rod Stewart - admittedly I am not too fond of anything that Rod has done recently and I am not as familiar with Smith's efforts as I want to be

Pass - I am not much of a fan of either Dexy's or the Coasters

Al Green - certainly not as diverse as Joe Jackson below, but many great songs. Cake and Cameo don't do much for me.

Kool and the Gang - but I don't care too much for either of these acts.

The Kinks - great songwriters, but Ray Davies is not one of my favorite vocalists. Nothing particularly interesting about Fiasco as far as I can tell.

Lynyrd Skynyrd - one of the greats in the Southern Rock genre - Street Survivors was a great albumn. It's a shame that we didn't hear more from Steve Gaines

Joe Jackson - his voice can be a bit grating, but his compositions and lyrics and diverse approaches are compelling. I think that Rob Thomas has one of the better voices over the past 10 years, but his music isn't nearly as interesting to me as Jackson's. Nonetheless, I think that "Disease" should be rated much higher than it is.

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fogerty has a great knack for creating tunes that stay with you forever. I have yet to catch any song from the Gap Band that I miss if I haven't heard it in a year or so.
