Are you aware that Darlene Love's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" is actually on the AM top 3000 songs list?

Re: The top songs on the top 500 albums:

Was not Harold. I'll fix that.

Re: The top songs on the top 500 albums:

Some of these I think must have been biased:

White Album (Happiness Is a Warm Gun): It's almost a consensus that While My Guitar Gently Weeps is the one above all the other tracks.

Doolittle (Monkey Gone to Heaven): Make it for Debaser!

Dummy (Sour Times): This I'm not that sure, but I always thought Glory Box was considered the best.

Surfer Rosa (Gigantic): Don't tell me that overrated track is ahead of the masterpiece "Where Is My Mind?".

Parklife (Girls and Boys): Well, this is more difficult, but the ones with more intimacy to this album take This Is a Low for the best, anyways, I much prefer the former.

A Rush of Blood to the Head (In My Place): I think the spot will soon be replaced by Clocks, although the other is still a great choice.

Re: The top songs on the top 500 albums:

I was going purely on acclaimed rankings for the ones that have songs.

The White Album is my favorite album of all time, and I think "Dear Prudence" is better than both Happiness and Guitar :-P

Re: The top songs on the top 500 albums:

Hey, it's my favorite album of all time either, with Dear Prudence, Piggies and Savoy Truffle being my personal favs (I'm So Tired also comes close). But it is quite a widespread opinion about While My Guitar being the album highlight. I had already seen the placement of both the tracks in AM ranking, and, boy, I really find it strange. By the way, isn't it totally unexpected to see Strawberry Fields Forever ahead of A Day in the Life in the top 20? I used to think that was because SFF had been released as a single, and so, appeared on many "best singles of all time" lists, but now after learning a bit about Henrik's calculations, I think this wouldn't change things between both the songs. Maybe there's a bias for ADTIL being a bit more polarizing, as our "Beatles survivor" have showed it to be.

Re: The top songs on the top 500 albums:

I personally consider "Strawberry Fields Forever" the better song by a hair (it's my personal favorite song of all time) but that's just me.

It ushered in the Beatles own psychedelic period, and was sort of a watershed moment. And unlike many other psychedelic singles, it holds up beautifully on just guitar and vox.

Re: The top songs on the top 500 albums:

050. Captain Beefheart- Trout Mask Replica- "Pachuco Cadaver"

lol.

Re: The top songs on the top 500 albums:

I'd dispute no. 4 - when I think of VU and N, I automatically think of Heroin.
