DECIBEL MAGAZINE The Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums Of The Decade

Hi Henrik, I remember you being particularly happy about this mags' 2008 EOY list, although only two of their albums would be found in other EOY lists...
I haven't had time to check thoroughly this one but there might be already a few included in the AM 3000...
Well, there it go!

Re: DECIBEL MAGAZINE The Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums Of The Decade

Is this eligible for the EOD spreadsheet, considering that DECIBEL is a genre magazine? Would it get weighted a la the country-specific lists?

All publications refer to a type of music. None covers the entire music world. A Decibel critics like those discs over D'Angelo, Radiohead, Jay-Z, etc.., In fact, for them, are the 100 greatest albums of all genres.

I disagree. They specifically state "the top 100 greatest metal albums of the decade". Rolling Stone, for example, can choose to include metal albums (I'm not sure if they did) but Decibel will never include anything but metal. So yeah, it should be a genre-specific list, just like I think the one for 2008 was last year.

Re: DECIBEL MAGAZINE The Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums Of The Decade

I wonder whether they forgot about Tool's Lateralus or whether they just don't care that much for Tool, who I thought were held in pretty high esteem within the metal community...

Re: DECIBEL MAGAZINE The Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums Of The Decade

Yes Harold, the list should be included. A few genre lists have already been included in the EOD songs sheet. They are not weighted down but I have thought about that too, it's a good idea. I don't think they should be weighted down as much as the national lists though.
