Re: EDL Mondosonoro (Spain) (international and national albums)

Top 10 is as predictable as possible, but there are a lot of pleasant surprises for me in the 11-50 range.

Re: EDL Mondosonoro (Spain) (international and national albums)

It appears that the three albums of the decade are:

Arcade Fire "Funeral"; The Strokes "Is This It"; and Radiohead "Kid A".

In the next update of the spreadsheet can be seen that these three albums stand out much

Re: EDL Mondosonoro (Spain) (international and national albums)

Henrik, I presume I need only add the international list to the EDL spreadsheet?

I notice that AM doesn't have any EOY lists from Mondo Sonoro past 2002. Can anyone here help fill in the gaps?

Re: EDL Mondosonoro (Spain) (international and national albums)

Harold, I am joining the spreadsheet Mondosonoro both lists and I've already sent to Henrik.

Possibly I have a job that I had corresponded but as Spanish records list I thought I could.

Thanks for adding both the international and the national lists, otisredding. I will include national lists to the main AM site, so it's great if they can be added to the spreadsheet too.

They are included. It's just the link from the "Critics lists" page that gives the wrong information.

Re: EDL Mondosonoro (Spain) (international and national albums)

Once more I'm glad to see my favourite album of the decade (Songs for the Deaf) and Relationship of Command which I feared would not get the acclaim it deserves.
It is now #30 on the spreadsheet and I hope it can stick to top 50 after the release of more mainstream lists.

Otis, thanks for taking the initiative in updating the spreadsheet. Can I ask a favor, though? While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I'd like to keep updating the album list myself, if that's OK. It would just make it easier to keep track of new additions, especially for national lists like the Spanish one here (which has 48 albums that weren't on the database before - the two that were are ALEGRANZA, which you caught, and the Triangulo album, which you didn't; for the international list, the only new entry was the Sunny Day Real Estate album).

Again, I don't mean to sound ungrateful for the help - I do appreciate it. But I volunteered to be in charge of this because I enjoy doing it. Believe me, I'm as eager to see the results change with each new list as much as you are! Fortunately, I work fast, so the wait won't ever be too long.

It's probably not an important comment, but the number one, Standstill's "Vivalaguerra", was also already in the spreadsheet.

Re: EDL Mondosonoro (Spain) (international and national albums)

According Harold. Sorry that I have interfered with your work.

I quite like you. I'm looking out new lists to update the spreadsheet, but I do not do it again.

Indeed, there is another list in progress that I think is valid but possibly henrik have to analyze it.

Also Honorio and other Spanish AM'ers could give their opinion:

Playground

Re: EDL Mondosonoro (Spain) (international and national albums)

And with this list, YHF inches it's way closer to the top 5 I know it'll peak at #4 or 5. Funeral, Is This It, and Kid A just have too much hype behind them.

Otisredding, what kind of website/magazine is Playground? Are there any reasons that the list should not be included?

Re: EDL Mondosonoro (Spain) (international and national albums)

What I just do not know the web Playground. Today I discovered by accident, looking for lists of the best of the decade.

You know the difference between a blog and a web of music is becoming increasingly blurred.

Playgroun, in the "about us" explains that it is a page and the collaborating musicians and music critics. I guess the list is the voting of all staff.

I think it must be valid. That is, not a blog but "born with the anxiety of becoming the medium of music on-line reference in Spanish"

I do not know if you understand because I use the Google translator. Honorio, I need you

I hope it can be included, if only because of Anniemal, Fever, Aaliyah and In Search of... placing!

Perdona Otis, he andado algo liadillo estos días.
I just checked the PlayGround web page and I think it’s another web-page (like many others) with news, album reviews and, of course, lists. They began in July of 2008. As far as I can see the album reviews got signed by different critics but there are not individual name in this end of decade list (so probably comes from the whole staff). Anyway in the “About us” section some of the names are renowned writers (for instance Jesús Llorente, one of my favourite Spanish critics).
So my opinion is that this list is as eligible as any other web-mag from other countries.
