Yes! Right where it belongs.

Re: End Decade Lists updated (albums)

Wait, is that including the...Swedish list that was around here? I think it was from there.

I agree. That top 5 just rocks. But it's sad to see Daft Punk slowly slipping down the list after their high initial placement by Pitchfork.

I hope YHF breaks into the top 5. I personally consider it #1, but I realize it has some stiff competition.

Glad to see The Stripes taking a slight hit; They're a great band, but I've never considered any of their albums front to back masterpieces.

GREAT to see The Glow Part 2 getting props. That's one of my top 10 albums of the 00s, and when it was low on the pitchfork list, I figured it was pretty much done for.

Does anyone else find it interesting that while Funeral is soaring, Neon Bible is sinking? I thought that was considered a great Critical 1-2 punch. Now it's looking more and more like a steep drop off in the vein of Marquee Moon/ Adventure or Entertainment!/ Solid Gold.

Re: End Decade Lists updated (albums)

I think Wilco can take Jay Z, but I have a feeling Sound of Silver and Stankonia will both be very hard to top. Because YHF has a jump on both of them in the current AM list though, I have a feeling it will maintain it's position in the AM 2000s T5.

Re: End Decade Lists updated (albums)

Very true SR.

Besides, even if YHF switched spots (Henrik implied that spots would just be switched, that the #1 of the decade won't become #30 of all time, due to weighting) it would only switch down from like 125 to 129. Not a big drop.

It might even move up two spots since both Franz Ferdinand and Elephant (which aren't that much higher than Foxtrot in the rankings) are taking hits.

Kid A, Funeral, and Foxtrot would be a dream top 3.

Re: End Decade Lists updated (albums)

I have a feeling that when the mainstream press publishes their lists, the cumulative list is going to drastically alter.

Re: End Decade Lists updated (albums)

An album that I think is sadly falling through the cracks is Demon Days. No album this decade has better captured the thick fog of fear that has defined the decade. I think it deserves to be in the top 10.

I think everything currently in the top 10 is safe, but I think some of the more indie album favs that didn't get a lot of hype from RS and Spin like Silent Shout, Moon & Antarctica, Discovery, and Geogaddi will take big dips.

Hopefully the mainstream critics give the list some balance; several great albums like Love & Theft and SMiLE are being held down for decidely more indie releases.

Re: End Decade Lists updated (albums)

All the stuff at the top of the list belongs there.

My biggest surprise is that Ys and Boxer aren't higher. And Third isn't there at all.

Agreed. Ys and Third are both top 20 for me, and Boxer is top 30.
