Re: Top songs of the 2000s spreadsheet - update thread
Thanks for the update! :D
Blecch to "Get Ur Freak On" jumping to #3. I'm sorry, but I've never been a fan of her. Never liked that song.
Just want to point out that Coldplay's "Clocks" is listed twice, which could cause some problems if it starts getting included on more end-of-decade lists.
Re: Top songs of the 2000s spreadsheet - update thread
I found a few duplicate entries:
Air "Playground Love"
Franz Ferdinand "Do You Want To"
Goldfrapp "Lovely Head"
Gossip "Standing In The Way Of Control"
Junior Boys "In the Morning"
Lambchop "Up With People"
Panda Bear "Comfy in Nautica"
The Flaming Lips "Fight Test"
The Libertines "Time for Heroes"
Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Cheated Hearts"
Note that a few of these have input on BOTH entries, so songs like "Do You Want To" will actually be much better placed.
Also note that I might have missed something, and that I found this before the last update, so there may be more.
(by the way, there are some excellent songs in here)
still some not included? For example, Consequence of Sound- was that eligible?
Interesting to see some things fare better on decade lists than they did on year-end ones. At least if something had decent year-end acclaim and doesn't fare as well as others on decade lists, they still have those year-end placements to help (even though decade carries more weight). Especially in the 90s and beyond, when access to year-end lists resulted in the site having al ot more of those than from pre-1990 years.
I'm glad that the decade end lists are a little more balanced than the year end lists...there were several examples of albums like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and In Rainbows which were both #1 for their respective years, with no songs in the top 20 from those albums. Always thought that the idea that an album could be a classic with no classic songs was silly.
Since there haven't been any new lists in a while, I did some analysis of the spreadsheet. This was done in the same vein of how (I think) Henrik ranks artists.
