So have learned today that my Grandad got caught speeding and fined a day's pay during WW2, even though his role was a special duties rider for Churchill!!
I really want to track this bikes history, hopefully it has survived and is being cared for and available to see.
Anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

According to the Chilwell List it was an "Indian 500cc Motorcycle". No further info I'm afraid...

It does look like we have a tracked the bike to the Indian 500.
I think the list shows 1799 bikes sent from the US that covers my Grandads bike.
Hopefully I can find more specific details ie frame and engine numbers etc.
Also hoping Ron and Lex sees the email and is able to tell me more

I do not want to ruin your enthusiasm but I am fairly certain you will not find engine or frame number for that particular motorcycle.

Based on that you can decide whether it is useful to put your efforts in that search.
