I picked up a box of 6volt 36w bulbs in their chilwell packaging box, marked lv6 mt3 x952409.
To me they look like the wartime single filament bulbs for use with the blackout mask on. There was some discussion as to the veracity of this and my memory.
As someone likely has the relevant reference book for stores, what does chilwell list them as?
Can't see 952409 mentioned in the Chilwell LV6 MT3 VAOS catalogue, but the system is based more on demanding and supplying a part for a specific use than identifying stock.
No worries, ive used them as bulbs in the mid to late war headlamps before when fitting a blackout, was just curious about stock number and my memory, every now and then ideas of what was used seem to change.
I picked up 2 boxs of 12 for a pound, so i think i have sufficient bulbs.
Seems a couple of pallets of them have landed on the market.
According to all the wartime literature that I've seen, even with the blackout mask fitted, WD motorcycles retained a double filament 24/24w headlamp bulb.
The E3 HM dynamo is only rated at 36w so with a 3w tail it is going to be working flat out if the lights are on, even assuming no retro brake light fitment.
