When I had first heard yesterday about the uncertain future of the cheddar jumble - I had thought it to be old news being brought up again
However later in the day I discovered it wasn’t old news but had yesterdays date on it
Some internal stuff going at the organising club seems to have knocked it on the head or put it in jeopardy
To lose this bi annual event would be a significant blow to those of us who depend on the quality of jumble that appears there
Hoping it can be sorted - it was a great social trip for us too travelling from overseas

I can imagine that no sensible older volunteer would want to take charge of thousands of pounds in notes and small change, take it home on a Saturday and keep it there until daring to venture into central Bristol to try banking it on Monday.
We've all been badly let down by the cashless society and greedy banks closing branches.

It doesn't sound like the venue is the problem. More like, the main bloke has had enough, and no one wants his job. What do you do with thousands of pounds of cash and no banks around who want to handle it??? It will have to be like most car parks, the Dartford crossing and Sandbanks ferry.....Payment on line! Ron
Its the same here in Australia. Banks are closing down. Making you do everything on line. Autojumbles(Swapmeets here) are closing down as they are run by motoring clubs and the members are getting older and less of them to say twenty years ago. We recently lost Berwick Swapmeet that had been running for about forty years because they could not get enough volunteers to run it. Majority of buyers and sellers here are over retirement age. Rare to see a twenty or thirty year old person at a swapmeet here.
