I have recently purchased a 1945 BSA WM20, I am based in Tasmania, Australia.
Just after any information that might be availabe and to check the Frame, Tank Census and Engine Numbers.
Frame Number: WM20 1172901
Tank Census Number: C37235
Engine Number: WM20 1177625
This is going to be a project bike and plan on restoring it, if there are any suggestions on best places to source original parts that would be greatly appreciated.
Couple of things missing are the horn push, tail light, throttle assembly for handle bars and requires a new clutch lever.
Unfortunately Remus, those numbers don't make any sense to me? The last bikes in 1945/6 only had a six digit frame and engine number and a seven digit census number starting 58*****. Ron
Looks like someone has added an extra number to the engine and frame number to hide a stolen bike. Whats the story on the bike is it originally from Tasmania or did you purchase it through Marketplace or Ebay or auction. I had a mate who fully restored a motorbike here in Melbourne and on registering it discovered it was stolen many years ago. Hard to register a motorbike in Victoria now if it has no previous known registration number. If you could put photos up of the engine and frame numbers here guys will now if it hashad the number restamped.
