How do you remove the fork bushings? Is there a special tool for BSA motorcycles?

I use a steel drift, but it's not easy.
Some wind an old tap into the bush and then drift that out with the bush.

I use the tap method, they come out quite easy in my experience. The spindles are 9/16, so probably the next size up tap. Ron

With the pin punch, two of the fork bushings came out. The rest ? Impossible!
I don't have a reamer...
As soon as I succeed, I'll let you know.




I even thought about sawing the bushings off without damaging the metal

I pull out the old bushes by cuting in a M 16 Metric thread.
Have made a sliding hammer with a bolt.
It is a propper and easy soulution.

In the end, I removed the bushings as suggested.

I tapped a 16mm thread with a 1.5mm pitch.

A 16/1.5mm threaded rod.

Two nuts.

A tube not visible in the photo.

The bushings came out.

Not easily.

I'm going to put the bushings back in place, but with a press.

If this post can help anyone considering changing their fork bushings, all the better.

I also changed the steering head bearings and cups. Without the specific BSA tool, it's impossible.
