Fascinating stuff, Steve. If I'm reading it correctly then this was the end of 8" headlamps in WD service. Presumably there were still some perhaps in the U.K. and more far-flung locations. I'm surprised that there were still enough 3rd Brush dynamo set-ups in use for them to have been worth mentioning.

The availability of only 7" nominal glasses as replacement for the masks meant a full headlamp change.

Would the clear glasses have been flat and completely plain, or were they a Difusa type ?
