This might be of interest to the BSA fans. A gentleman by the name of Joe Brown sent me this picture of him when he worked for BSA in the 1950's.

His note with the photo - ' BSA 1954. Civil defence exercise - I am on the left-hand side. The Bantam assembly shop is at the rear.'

A nice picture of early swinging arm B31s (and one B33 going by the 8" front brake)...I didn't realise the Civil Defense had these bikes...However, BSA were extremely active in the 'fleet' market, selling bikes to the Home office, Milk Marketing Board, Ministry of Defence, Police Forces, Fire Services, Forestry Commission and no doubt a few more, as well as many foriegn government contracts...Somewhere I have a photo of Gendarmes in Paris on A10s!....Ian
