Inner tube recommendation

I have decided to ride to Normandy this June rather than take my bike in the van. One thing I want to sort while giving the bike a good check over is renewing the inner tubes, both leak very slowly and I don't want to be changing one at the roadside when they eventually expire. Any recommendations on heavy duty replacements other than Michelin?

Cheers,

Stuart

Re: Inner tube recommendation

I would have said Michelin heavy duty for sure. But also important to have good tread on the tyres to avoid a puncture. Ron

Re: Inner tube recommendation

Like Ron - I use heavy duty Michelin tubes

Vintage tyres in beaulieu are my preferred go to shop but am sure you have a supplier or at least someone local to you to obtain

Thanks Ron/Job,

The second opinion I wanted, I'll get a pair from Wheelhouse Tyres as they're only a short ride away. Tyres are fairly new Ron so no issues there.

Re: Inner tube recommendation

Yep, Michelin 'airstops' and good tyres...And take a spare, a pump, everything to get the wheels off, tyre levers and some liquid soap.....My M20 had a puncture in Normandy one year when my pal was riding it...The tube was torn but I had packed all of the above and he got himself out of trouble deep in the Normandy countryside...Ian

Re: Inner tube recommendation

I also run Michelin airstops and carry a spare with me. I've just purchased a little canvas bag so it can have it's own home.

BTW I think we sell them too.

Re: Inner tube recommendation

I carry all the relevant kit Ian but I'm yet to use it at the roadside. When I fitted the first set of tyres to it many years ago I did them on the drive so I knew I could sort myself out if the worse ever happened..
