Oh God..Another year approaching and one more British motorcycle brand 'revived' with its name stuck on the side of a few different Chinese bikes..This time it's that masterpiece of Yorkshire engineering Panther that's getting its history abused...
No connection to anything made in the UK, no application of any of the Panthers styling features etc. etc...The old boys in Cleckheaton must be turning in their graves along with their whippets and pigeons..There's nothing worse in the motorcycling world than this ridiculous and meaningless badge engineering...
How about a Turkish manufactured 125 for a Vincent revival?....:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: ...Ian
Ah, just wait. Pretty soon AI will scour all the advertising, see how much of it there is, and tell the unwitting public that this latest name grab refers to the only Panther that ever existed - the new one. This is the way AI distorts things, loses information, and dismisses expertise and common sense.
I "found" a piece saying the M20 is about to be relaunched. A generic rendering of a nice looking new old bike. I think it was a twin. And I think I saw the basic drawing recoloured & rebadged as another old brand.
I'd be very much in favour of a new Panther (for example) that is designed and manufactured in Britain and shares at least some visual design features of the original....Unfortunately the will and the money aren't available for that and in that case I'd agree with Mark....It's best to leave well alone...You can't just slap a name on something and then seriously suggest it's been resurrected...Most of these people seem to be clueless...The new BSA Bantam for example is a unit construction 4 stroke single...Perhaps Starfire, Barracuda, or Victor would have been a more obvious name choice rather than naming it after a 2 stroke..Ian
Not only did they grab the "Panther" name, they copyrighted the "Phelon & Moore" name. Needless to say, I prefer the old Panthers tied to the original Phelon & Moore.
