Re: Norton 16H handlebars 7/8" or 1 ", genuine or not
Later models did indeed have 7/8" bars and controls. The end-plugs don't look the same as the 1" type. Are they bright chrome ? If so, I'd suspect later local production.
Quite a lot of those last contract bikes were supplied to Greece.
Re: Norton 16H handlebars 7/8" or 1 ", genuine or not
hi rick, yes this are of a later bike and came of a greek bike, but chrome could be a later addition as it has been repaired/ restored 40/50 years ago. so this could be a set of the original bars? do the plugs look correct?
Re: Norton 16H handlebars 7/8" or 1 ", genuine or not
I don't have experience of the 7/8" bars, but it seems to be the case that whilst the blanking plugs tended to be fairly exposed when combined with the earlier rubber handgrips, during the canvas grip era they seem to have been more or less completely covered by the grip with retaining ring...so all you'd see would be the end.
Re: Norton 16H handlebars 7/8" or 1 ", genuine or not
I have a (cutaway) 16H with 7/8" bars, can take some pictures tomorrow if needed, it has the end plugs, the shape is rounded off like the 1" bar plugs.
