What is the best way to remove the 1st/2nd gear cluster from the gearbox mainshaft?

I use my hydraulic press. Sometimes they push off easily, but I've had occasions that I thought I'd need to seek a bigger press. It can be scary when the finally give with a bang. Ron

Thanks for the reply Ron, when you press the cluster off do you put a couple of metal blocks under the 3rd gear and press everything off in one go or do you use a bearing separator between the cluster and 3rd gear?

Hi Pete. I can't find a picture of the process, but with those heavy metal black plates under 3rd gear, I would have pressed them off together. Ron
