Re: RE Model C build

I am ready to build the Mode C engine but stuck with where these bits sit.

4 shims, 2 thin, 2 thick
2x small brass style circles
Spacer

I know the shims go on the crankshaft but where?

Any help on describing, or even better photos would be brilliant!

Thanks

Danny

Re: RE Model C build

The shims are thrust washers for the main bearings 21191 thin and 21448 thick. The ring 24570 is a roller cage distance piece.

If you buy a parts list, you can look up parts and type the numbers into Hitchcock's site for more information.

Re: RE Model C build

I think the two small discs (maybe 5mm diameter) are from the crankcase breather assembly.

I remember the large and thick shims on my engine rebuild, they sit between the crankcase roller bearing and the flywheel. Maybe the thinner shims are to adjust the end float?

You are right Tom. I missed those little discs, ....Flap valves in the crankcase breather. Ron
