I have an M20 petrol tank here that is dry and hasnt been used for over 15 years.
The taps seem OK, but they feel a little bit "light".
There is a good chance they will leak once I fill the tank.
Is there a cure for this ? Something like laying them in hot water for a while ?
I don't want to take them apart right away, afraid that they will be damaged.

I drop them in a pan of boiling water for about five minutes and it seems to help if they're becoming a bit "weepy".

If you hook them out while they're still hot then they soon dry.

Once they're old and dried out, I doubt you'll ever revive them. It's quite cheap and simple to squeeze new corks in. I always boil them and oil them. Ron
