As far as I'm concerned the continuous spam postings on the forum are spoiling the enjoyment of it and leading to a decline in its use..If these postings can't be eliminated by technical means I'd suggest some form of 'login' must be the answer...I like the fact the forum has always been 'open' and 'login' isn't my preferred choice...However...
I'd be interested in other opinions/suggestions on this subject just to 'test the water' regarding views on a possible change to the format....Ian
Agree Ian, it's got too much and I would never add my email address to this forum anymore. There has been a steady decline in postings and I'm sure it relates to this. Login would eliminate the spam but I don't know if login would put off new visitors.
At least we've changed to https, that was supposed to make the sight more secure.
Even if a log in system was introduced, someone still has to weed out the spammers.
The B50.org has a serious problem, but the moderators don't have the time to keep up with it.
All the work on trying to protect this site has made it very difficult to post information.
For some odd reason I can't even view my pictures if I can even post them.
I post pictures from my FTP site, that way they shouldn't go away like so many do.
Some of this old info is invaluable.

I agree. Postings have dropped as spam has increased. Too much visual clutter of off topic spam. Deleting those entries is cumbersome and delayed. Using a request to join and, once approved, logging in would clean up this spam. Besides that, thanks to everyone for such a great forum.
I will probably get shot down for this but here goes:
Can we not ban certain regional IP addresses, those from a certain continent seem the worst offenders (to me at least!), and I struggle to recall any actual active members from there…..

Unfortunately Bravenet only allows to ban individual IP's
I am removing those/banning them continouosly from my Norton forum but everyday there are new ones with almost identical IP's.
Many are Asian but they are not the only ones.
It is quite a nuisance but Bravenet seems either unwilling or are unable to stem this flood of nonsense.
It is both in the paid version and in the free version.
It may well be one of the "wonderful" results of AI.
Whilst I agree that the spams are a complete pain in the arse. I'm convinced that falling numbers are more to do with Facebook. Other forums that I attend who don't have the spam problem, are also failing. For instance, the Canadian vehicles forum "Maple Leaf Up" has eventually shut down and I see they've reinstated on FB. There seems to be only a handful of us contributing on HMVF these days. I don't like FB at all so I'm missing out on most of the stuff. I also prefer to receive emails and attachments on my PC rather than on my phone.

I share others' frustration about the spammers. Their interference is the only reason I've not contributed much to the forum in recent months. I've joined three related FB groups, but they don't compare. I'm not a techy, but hope there is a solution. If that means a sign in, sign me up 😺

Its not just the scammers, I have shared everything I have and I keep getting outbid on ebay so I can't get my hands on anything new, which includes a nice RAF Big4 photo this week, so unless someone asks a decent question or posts something interesting, what do I post?
Plus the scammers are getting more cunning, one of them called itself "Miller" this week, was that AI inspired I ask myself?
