Tank Badge Identification

I’m attaching some photos of Royal Signals DR Sergeant Stan Kendrick. The photo of Stan on his own was taken in Sicily, prior to the allied landings in Italy. The group photo was taken in Italy. Can anyone identify the unit marking on the tank of Stan’s BSA please? He is front row, second from right. What I do know, which might help to narrow it down, is that he was the leader of a group of 4 DRs who were the advance escort for a British column into Bari, early September 1943, immediately before Italy’s surrender.
Also can anyone identify the badge on the wall behind? It appears to be a twin-engine aircraft with the numeral 121DH above and 404 below. I can’t make sense of that.
All help appreciated, thanks.
John

Edit - update. I can’t seem to upload images from imgbb, which I’ve done before. Comes up as error 403, resource not accessible. Any help please?
Success! With thanks to Ron, the BBCode ‘Full Image’ seems to have worked.

Re: Tank Badge Identification

I can't post any images or hyperlinks. It seems to be a Bravenet problem.

Re: Tank Badge Identification

I have reported it to Nick and Bastiaan a couple of times, but Nick thinks it's working OK. I've had a couple of long jottings with picture or link wiped out! It seems I am FORBIDDEN! Ron

Re: Tank Badge Identification

The tank markings appear to be the Arm of Service for the Signals. White over Blue with the number 404 (as the sign behind and arm bands). I copied a picture for my Triumph 5SW which I've marked as Anti Aircraft Command. I don't actually understand the numbering system, Maybe Rik can shed some light? Ron

Re: Tank Badge Identification

Hi John, Nice pictures but I wonder if there is any more detail, could you scan them at greater dpi please.

Re: Tank Badge Identification

Thanks gents for your help. The scans are all I have. The originals are with Stan’s daughter, who is helping me with our village’s Wartime Memories project. If I can get hold of the originals one day I’ll make better copies. Meanwhile here’s another photo of Stan. He’s all bulled up for a formal portrait after he rescued an Italian mayor from a German firing squad.
He has the same triangular badge on his shoulder as one of his comrades in the group photo seems to have on the side of his helmet.

Re: Tank Badge Identification

The aircraft symbol on R. Sigs background is invariably Air Formation Signals. My dad was 11 Air Fmn. Sigs in NW Europe and as far as I'm aware they only went up to "19".

121 DR must be a DR Section, I think.

Hodges & Taylor have "402" and "403" as 1 and 2 Air Fmn. Sigs withing 1st Army in December 1942. Oddly, "404" was Railway Signals at that time. The surviving lists are only partial though and changes often undocumented.

The sleeve badge will be the Air Fmn. Sigs white wings on blue triangle. I have an original, but the photo posting thing isn't working properly for me.

Re: Tank Badge Identification

Thank you John, its a little clearer showing a section of the picture, presumably because the image hosting site reduces the quality of a big picture?

Its tantalizingly close to being able to work out the frame numbers of at least one of the BSA M20s shown.

Re: Tank Badge Identification

Thanks all for your help so far. I’ll see if I can get hold of the originals, or any more photos. Meanwhile here is Stan age 94 as a Chelsea Pensioner.
