Oil Flinger Question

Hi everyone! I've a question on fitting the oil flinger to a WM20. The service sheet, and guidance I've found in other threads on this site, says this washer (flinger) is to be bent over in one place to prevent accidental movement. Previously I've seen these bent in 2 places or not at all. Would anyone here have a photo of the correct positioning of the bend and fitment onto the flywheel?

Many thanks!

Glenn

Re: Oil Flinger Question

Glenn, here's how mine looks on the M21 crank I fitted in my M20 years ago. From memory, it was just a case of bending the top towards the flywheel. Ron

Re: Oil Flinger Question

The flinger position and area to bend the tabs is different on an m21 versus an m20 due to the different position of the crank pin on these cranks
The m20 crank allows the flinger tabs to be bent and secured - but the the m21 not as much
I often thought did the m21 have a different flinger ?
Any got an m20 crank photo to compare

Re: Oil Flinger Question

John the same oil flinger 24-2113 fits the M20/21/23 B29/30. Ron

Re: Oil Flinger Question

Thanks Ron and John! This is very helpful indeed. From memory, the shape of the M20 flywheel must be different to the M21 where the bend on the oil flinger is formed, which would make sense with the different crank pinion positions. I 'll check this out over the next week or so.

Cheers!

Glenn

Re: Oil Flinger Question

Hi Glenn
From memory / on the m20 crank / I think the position of the crank pin allows the flinger ends / tabs to bend into the 2 holes which are present in both m20 & m21

Ron is correct that the part number is the same but somehow I feel perhaps that it should not be

Let us know how you get on
