WM20 Oil Filter

All,
I have purchased an oil filter that is not an original design.
I have doubts if it's dimensionaly correct and therfore effective.
I'm looking for a correct filter that works, or any other advice on this
Thanks,
- Andy

Re: WM20 Oil Filter

The filters one sees on sale for the m20/ wm20 seem to fit well for me. Perhaps what you are missing is the metal, spring loaded 'hood' that goes on the top of the filter, and is held in place by the oil filler cap? Without the hood the filter will flap around ineffectually.

I'm unable to load a picture, but a parts diagram should show you what I mean.

Best wishes, Allan

Re: WM20 Oil Filter

Some very nice filters are being made by Bob Mayow who runs the M24 website....A google search will soon turn up the site, it's the one that used to be run by George Wanda before his unfortunate passing....Ian

Re: WM20 Oil Filter

Thank you all for the info.
Another question I have.
The filter I have has a metal cap on one end and open on the other.
Is the capped end (part of the filter) placed bottom of the tank with the top captured by the sprung cap in the top open end?
Thanks again.
I've not been successful in posting pictures

Re: WM20 Oil Filter

Hi Andy
That's the way I fit them, as you describe. Cap on filter goes to the bottom of the tank, the open end is held by the sprung cap.

Thank you all for the information.
It is what I needed to confirm my suspicion.
