Hi,
Is there different heights for the tin clutch covers? I have just assembled my clutch (single spring) the clutch pack height is level with the top of clutch basket, but the tin cover is fouling and cannot be bolted down without a spacer or washers being used, the tin cover I have measures approx. 40mm on the sides and is a reproduction in black.
I’m sure there would have to be clearance also for the clutch pack to slide. Maybe I could get some measurements of an original cover or I may be doing something wrong!
Thanks in advance.
Rick
I've measured a NOS clutch cover.
Maximum internal height 67mm.
The clutch cover is a loose fit around the chainwheel tabs, about 1-2mm difference in diameters.
It's difficult to measure the sides of the cover, like you I get about 40mm.
The height of the chainwheel tabs is about 36mm.
I extended the height of one of these tabs to about 50mm & the clutch cover went on with no interference.
Thanks.
Ill do some measuring and see how I go but it seems that the cover is not tall enough! Another question, when the clutch is operated I assume the pack protrudes out of the basket at least a few MM? Another reason that clearance is needed for the outer cover.
