Postage costs, it's getting crazy...I wanted a Lucas 'Racing Magneto' I.D. plate and the only place I could source one was from the USA...$20 for the plate and $22 for postage plus any other costs...That seems a lot for something that could come in an air mail letter....Ian
Plus the £8 Royal Mail admin charge for dealing with the customs documentation and 20% VAT on the purchase price, the shipping costs and the admin fee. You're looking at about £40+ VAT = £48.
I did the same thing a couple of years back with the difference that Belgian Post charge €18 ! If it's from the same US supplier as the clockwise tag that I bought, then they're hard-anodised, unlike the originals and an absolute b*st*rd to stamp !
Fortunately there's no stamping on these plates, they just say 'Lucas Racing Magneto'...There is a UK supplier who deals in Norton single parts but they are currently 'out of stock'...I need one for my ultra rare competition magdyno...Ian

No Rik. We are allowed a commercial purchase up to £130 (Not including postage) before any fees are applied. Postage costs from the Americas have always been outrageous.
This guy in Argentina makes some lovely correct brass etched labels and speedo dials etc. $15 for a saddle tag plus $20 shipping. As Ian says, could easily go in an airmail envelope??
