brass rebuild plate

Can someone decipher this brass rebuild plate: SOU/2/ 3/55 bore size 1/2mm. I understand that the rebuild was done in March 1955 and the piston is 1/2mm oversize but where was it done in which workshop?

Re: brass rebuild plate

Hi Leon, "Sou" appears in the post war keycards quite a bit, I think its Southern Command, I presume each Command area had a workshop, maybe if Richard Farrant sees this he may know more.

Re: brass rebuild plate

Hi Leon,

I have a tag with similar details and Richard provided the following answer to a query a couple of years ago.

Hi,
SOU2 is indeed the code for a workshop in Southern Command. As SOU1 was the Command Workshop at Aldershot, I would hazard a guess the SOU2 could have been the REME Command Workshop at Warminster. For your interest we were still using these codes right up until ABRO took over the REME static workshops in the early 90's.

Brendan.
