Sealed rear wheel bearings?

Hi all,

I have replacement taper bearings for my WM21 rear hub (with thin thrust washers), but wondering if there's any disadvantage to using sealed rollers?

Regards,

Craig

Re: Sealed rear wheel bearings?

I don't it will make much difference with or without.
One thing I wouldn't do is use the grease nipple in the hub.
The bearings packed with a water resistant grease and well greased felt washers should last for a very long time.

Re: Sealed rear wheel bearings?

I replaced the Timkin taper bearings on my recent WB30 project with sealed races. I had to accurately calculate the distance between them for the support tubes for the inner races. Ron

Re: Sealed rear wheel bearings?

Thank you for your views. I'll keep to the taper bearings for now, but look to sealed rollers if or when they need replacement.

My regards,

Craig
