Can anyone provide information on when the early large steel wing nut fitted to petrol caps was replaced by the more commonly seen slimmer brass type

The early type were certainly still fitted when the smaller fuel tank first appeared. That would put you past early 1941.

Not even parked in numerical order, makes you wonder if they were shipped by quantity and not that fussed about the order?
