I race a WM20 in Australia and am looking at fitting twin plugs. To meet eligibility requirements, I may have to prove that twin plugs were fitted to a bike before 1945.
Does anyone have a photo of a WM20 or M20 with twin plugs, preferably from before the end of 1945.
Photos of twin plug singles from other manufacturers would also be useful.
Thanks
Chris
I don't recall ever seeing a motorcycle head with twin plugs from the pre war era...I'm not even sure the benefits of such an arrangement were realised at that time...Post war Harley Davidson sidevalves had twin plug heads fitted on occassion and a photo of one of those heads looks like a single!..
Even without twin plugs moving the (single) spark plug position is considered beneficial....Ian
Here's one with a twin plug head (and nitrous oxide injection!)....Unfortunately it's not an original head or a pre 45 picture but it is a pre 45 bike!....Ian
Are the class rules specific to showing a period case to claim compliance? There are some photos, non-standard heads like the one Ian showed, from land speed, but class rules for land speed are not too prescriptive for the head of a side valve. Bill Gough’s wasn’t twin spark :(
