I have been digging out throttle assemblies here - all but 2 have pulled threads

I know these can be fixed but noticed the damper screw underneath either has a lock nut or a small spring on it to prevent slackening

What is correct - lock nut or spring -
Or
Are both correct just different war time period

I've only ever seen a locknut John. Also proven on NOS throttles I've owned and seen. Ron
